Linguisitc minorisation and social inequalities

Depuis sa création, en 1987, le Centre de recherche en linguistique appliquée (CRLA) de l’université de Moncton privilégie la recherche en aménagement linguistique en milieu francophone minoritaire. La pertinence de cette orientation découle de réflexions qui ont amené les linguistes du CRLA à reconnaitre la nécessité d’approfondir les questions reliées à la problématique des inégalités et des discriminations linguistiques persistantes dans l’unique province officiellement bilingue du Canada, le Nouveau-Brunswick. Pour souligner ses trente ans, le CRLA propose d’explorer les modes de construction, les modalités de manifestation ainsi que les possibilités de contestation de la minorisation linguistique.

Travelling Narratives and Images in Times of Migration

Migrant narratives and aesthetic practices influenced by experiences of migration constitute a growing field in contemporary art and literature. Current patterns of migration and issues related to the protection of refugees and asylum seekers contribute to the strong societal impact of migrant aesthetics and narrratives, but also serve to explain the need for them as such, as well as the need to reexamine them. More than ever, we need to understand the experiences of exiles, migrants and refugees. The objective of this interdisciplinary seminar is to examine textual, material and visual expressions that represent, discuss and problematize migration.

Structure and Dynamics of Media Flows

This workshop is the closing event of the ANR Corpus Géomédia project, which has had geographs, media specialists and computer scientists working together since the end of 2012. It reflects the aims of the project, ie. to create a tool to capture RSS feeds concerned with international news for a number of newspapers in the world (French-, English- and Spanish-speaking), before using it to answer some research issues: what is an event? how to explain the sub/over-representation of some spaces or actors? can the flow of information be modelised at global scale?

L'accord-cadre Culture-CNRS 2016-2020

Le ministère de la Culture et de la Communication (MCC) et le Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) développent une politique scientifique partagée sur des thématiques communes faisant appel à de multiples domaines de la science, avec une forte prise en compte de l’interdisciplinarité. Ainsi, sciences humaines et sociales, chimie, physique, mathématiques, écologie, géologie ou sciences du numérique contribuent au dynamisme de la recherche dans les domaines du patrimoine, de la création, des médias et des industries culturelles. Cette politique est formalisée depuis 1992 par un accord-cadre, régulièrement renouvelé.

1st interdisciplinary encounters on animal work

Animals are working too: such is the inconoclastic proposal that will be at the heart of the oral presentations and discussions of the First interdisciplinary Colloquium on Animal Work which will take place on 8th and 9th april 2016 in Paris. Indeed, millions of domestic animals participate in human activities that fall within the scope of human labour. And without their participation, or even with their collaboration, such work could not be achieved. Yet animal work often remains an invisible aspect of human societies, and is rarely studied by scholars.

Writing the geographic

Ce séminaire entend développer l’investigation des formes savantes de l’écriture géographique en les mettant en contact et en tension avec d’autres formes de textes qui portent également des modalités de connaissance ou de questionnement géographiques (le sentiment paysager, le rapport aux lieux ou à l’espace, le devisement régional, etc.) : l’écriture de fiction sous tous ses registres, mais aussi le texte descriptif, le récit de voyage, l’essai, ou encore les écrits intimes.

Selected languages. Saved languages. The poetics of resistance

Ce colloque a pour objet de questionner les multiples enjeux (éthiques, politiques, artistiques et existentiels) que revêt le choix d’une langue d’écriture pour un écrivain plurilingue travaillant dans un contexte d’oppression ou de violence, ou encore dans une « zone de contact » entre différentes langues / cultures. Il s’agira d’envisager l’adoption d’une langue d’écriture comme une décision prise en toute conscience de la précarité du lien identité / langue / nation et du rapport de force qui existe entre différentes langues dans un espace-temps donné. « Sauver sa langue », de ce point de vue, c’est réchapper par l’écriture d’une violence qui menace l’intégrité de la personne. La question du choix linguistique en littérature n’a que rarement été abordée jusqu’ici sous un angle transdisciplinaire, transnational et transhistorique. L’autre originalité de la démarche adoptée est de ne pas réduire la question du choix à l’écriture en langue étrangère (exophonie).
