  The OLA network (Observatory on Local Autonomy), the CEMR (Council of European Municipalities and Regions), and Lille University, will organise a three-day conference on September 2017, in Lille (France) and Brussels (Belgium). The topic of the symposium is “Democratic and Electronic Changes in Local Public Action in Europe: REvolution or E-volution?”.

  Chaque semaine amène l’annonce de la construction d’un nouveau mur frontalier : Kenya / Somalie, Tunisie / Libye, Hongrie / Serbie, Turquie / Syrie… De nouveaux remparts sont érigés, dans la foulée du 11 septembre, du Printemps arabe et du conflit syrien, pour prévenir, enrayer, selon les discours officiels, l’immigration illégale, la contagion terroriste, le trafic. Désormais, les frontières ne sont plus des lignes, ni même des interfaces. Elles ne sont plus souples et poreuses, elles sont dures et agressives. À la frontière, la nouvelle norme est celle d’une violence latente.

  Art Markets and New Territories for Art in Cities of the Global South

  Special issue of the Journal of Géographie et Cultures

  This issue of Géographie et cultures proposes to explore the emergence of art markets in the metropoles of the Global South and related phenomena. It will investigate both the drivers of these new regional dynamics, in particular via the circulation of art works and stakeholders in the art world, and their local impact in terms of cultural and urban policy, the urban renewal of previously marginal neighborhoods, and the emergence of new public spaces or even new social norms and hierarchies.
