Le colloque se propose de déterminer le rôle des monstres dans le discours chrétien des XVIe et XVIIIe siècles. À travers une approche interdisciplinaire, il veut expliquer leur forte présence dans la vie quotidienne tout comme l’existence et l’application d’interprétations divergentes dans le contexte religieux. Il souhaite analyser comment, à travers les monstres, se construisent des significations et valeurs culturelles et quelles fonctions leur reviennent lors des luttes pour le pouvoir.
