  Polychromy in ancient Sculpture and Architecture

  La huitième table ronde internationale sur la polychromie de la sculpture et de l'architecture antique réunit chaque automne, dans un pays différent, des archéologues, des conservateurs, des historiens d'art, des philologues, des spécialistes de l'analyse des matériaux du patrimoine et des restaurateurs. Elle permet des échanges constructifs et interdisciplinaires, en anglais, sur des thèmes relatifs aux matériaux, aux fonctions et aux valeurs de la couleur dans la production architecturale et sculpturale du monde antique, essentiellement grec et romain, sans exclure d'autres contextes culturels tels que ceux du Moyen-Orient, de l'Égypte, de l'Étrurie et de l'Antiquité tardive.

  Studies on Greek monuments are rarely confronted with socio-historical works. However, new researches tend to prioritize interdisciplinarity. When these programs seem mainly concerned with monumental complexes and outdoor spaces, our workshop wants to focus on material and immaterial circulations inside public and religious buildings in the Greek world, from archaic times to the early Roman Empire.

  Le colloque portera sur la présence des divinités et des cultes dans les campagnes de la Gaule romaine et des régions voisines, du I^er siècle avant notre ère au IV^e siècle de notre ère. Cette thématique sera évoquée essentiellement à travers les beaux-arts, l’architecture et les inscriptions antiques. Le colloque est destiné à conduire à une meilleure compréhension de la société, des mentalités, de la culture, des cadres de vie, des connaissances artistiques, artisanales ainsi que de leur transmission et des influences exercées en Gaule romaine et dans les régions avoisinantes.

  Water Management in the Mediterranean during the 1st Millennium BC

  IIIe symposium international HYDRΩMED

  The aim of the meeting is to compare the different modes of adaptation of the Ancient Mediterranean populations to the environmental resources, especially their hydric resources. In a climate marked by unequal distribution of water, the ancient societies, whether Phoenician-Punic, Greek or Etruscan, responded in different ways to the various situations, let alone the hydric crises which may have affected them. The meeting will associate systemic theoretical reflections as well as case studies on ancient sites, to outline the mutations and the permanencies, the possible technological transfers from one society to another. Here, as in other fields of human activity, we shall query the existence of an ancient Mediterranean koine around the knowledge and the technical practices, around the cultural and cultural traditions. The chronology considered runs from the 8^th to the 1^st century BC, i.e. before the diffusion of the Roman models and techniques.
