  Of ills and blood: female violence

  Deviant and criminal women and their judges in the former Netherlands and North West Europe from the late Middle Ages to the 20th century

  La deuxième journée de notre cycle de journées d’études ambitionne d’aborder cette thématique au travers de l’intitulé suivant : « Des maux et du sang : la violence des femmes ». Restée longtemps ignorée, la violence des femmes constitue aujourd’hui un objet de recherche en pleine expansion. La question du traitement pénal des femmes violentes verbalement ou physiquement dans les espaces septentrionaux méritait une attention particulière. Entre législation officielle et jurisprudences, quels regards les autorités judiciaires portent-elles sur ces femmes ? Comment appliquent-elles le droit ? En quoi ces crimes de sang offrent-ils une vision de la société féminine et des rapports sociaux ?

  The reconquest of books and prints. At the heart of the Catholic reform in the Netherlands (16th-17th centuries)

  L’unité de recherche « Transitions » de l’université de Liège, en partenariat avec le groupe de contact du Fond de la recherche scientifique (FNRS) « Documents rares et précieux », organisera les 23 et 24 février 2017 deux journées d’étude consacrées à l’utilisation du support imprimé par les acteurs de la réforme catholique pour soutenir leur action de reconquête des Pays-Bas. Cette manifestation prend place à l’occasion des célébrations organisées à Liège pour le 500^e centenaire des débuts de la Réforme.

  The Institutions of the Habsburg Low Countries (XVI-XVIII c.)

  IX Conference of Spanish, Belgian and Dutch historians. In honour of Professor Hugo de Schepper

  This conference intends to continue the tradition of the Hispanic-Dutch-Belgian meetings and will bring together a number of established and early-career researchers working in the field of the institutional history of the Habsburg Low Countries from the 16^th to the 18^th centuries. It aims to draw attention to a broad range of political, cultural, religious, legal, and military institutions by focusing on the enriching approaches that have shaped historical research on institutional history in the past few decades. At the same time, it hopes to bring into the limelight some exciting new (and often interdisciplinary) perspectives that characterize current research in the field.
