Archaeology at the birth of international relations

Les travaux portant sur l’archéologie sont majoritairement l’apanage des historiens de l’art et des archéologues. Peu d’historiens se confrontent directement à ce bel objet qui apparaît pourtant de manière récurrente dans nos archives : parcours individuels, négociations et traités… Nous souhaitons, dans le cadre du Bulletin de l’Institut Pierre Renouvin, inverser cette tendance et placer l’archéologie au cœur de travaux d’histoire des relations internationales. Mettre en valeur les particularités de cette approche historique nous permettra de voir en quoi les perspectives offertes par cette discipline apportent un nouvel éclairage, qui vient nourrir et compléter la production existante.

Avec une croissance exponentielle de ses utilisateurs et le développement de son économie numérique, l’Asie est devenue le nouveau centre de gravité de l’internet. Cette journée à pour but de présenter toute la complexité et les enjeux du cyberespace asiatique. La première partie de la journée sera consacrée à la cartographie du paysage cyber en Asie et l’élaboration de normes et de cyber pactes pour prévenir l’escalade des conflits. La deuxième partie de la journée offrira des regards croisés entre l’Europe et l’Asie, sur des questions d’intérêt commun : les risques et opportunités du marché de la cybersécurité et le rôle de l’industrie dans la stabilité globale ; la notion de souveraineté des États dans le cyberespace ; les cadres juridiques et la coopération régionale et internationale pour la protection des données et la lutte contre la cybercriminalité. Cet événement réunira de nombreux chercheurs et experts internationaux venus d’Asie, des États-Unis et d’Europe.

A Realm of Memory of the Cold War
Whether or not “the entire world” was looking at Berlin, as Reuter asserted, is one of the central questions to be addressed at our conference. Starting from the “frontline city” of Berlin, we will cast our glance to West Germany and its neighboring countries in order not only to frame the Berlin Airlift as a transnational memorial of the Cold War, but also to address, from outside, the question of whether Berlin was really the international focus of the East-West conflict back then, as the press and academia so often portray it.

Désormais, les frontières ne sont plus des lignes, ni même des interfaces. Elles ne sont plus souples et poreuses, elles sont dures et agressives. À la frontière, la nouvelle norme est celle d’une violence latente.

The complex and polysemic notion of identity offers great opportunities for reflection. Historians, geographers, sociologists, ethnologists, political scientists, geo-politicians, economists, linguists, philosophers, semiologists, theologians..., among others, with methods specific to their discipline, analyze identity, its formation, its relationship with the territory and surrounding populations, the symbolic, written and verbal communication with group members or neighboring groups, changes over time and space. Thus, each particular identity and appears to understand it, we must analyze the highly variable combination of multiple constitutive factors themselves change over time and space.

Depuis plus d’un demi siècle qu’elle s’est constituée comme un « sous-champ disciplinaire » à part entière, l’anthropologie maritime n’a guère pris le temps de réfléchir à son unité. L’amplitude des études et des questionnements anthropologiques portant aujourd’hui sur les sociétés maritimes ou côtières engage à en interroger plus rigoureusement les fondements méthodologiques et conceptuels. C’est ce que le présent colloque entend faire en insistant sur la spécificité du traitement anthropologique qu'appelle le milieu maritime.

Geoeconomical and geopolitical approaches
For several years, the world seems to have entered a period of high instability. Economically, the "subprime mortgage crisis" appeared in 2007 in the USA, then spread planet wide in all areas of activity. In 2015, economic difficulties persist (growth stagnation in developed countries and lower growth in emerging markets, explosion of unemployment, deindustrialisation and offshoring, market tensions in China, the euro zone, etc.). In geopolitical terms, tension spots have also multiplied (Saharian and Sahelian Africa, Middle East, Far East and Eastern Europe) leading to strong migratory waves while power poles seem to be redeploying between the USA, China and other regional powers.The aim of the conference "Contemporary Crisis and changes" is to question these contemporary upheavals through both a geo-economic and a geopolitical reading. The conference will provide elements of analysis and compare them especially with contemporary representations of globalisation emphasizing in particular the logic of closure that seems to characterize this phenomenon.
