  Le potentiel créateur des rapports conflictuels est souvent oublié dans les sciences sociales. Les positions contradictoires d’où émergent un certain nombre de convergences dans le cadre des négociations sur le climat sont une illustration de ce mécanisme. Au cœur de ces conflits se trouvent une multitude d’acteurs à différentes échelles, sous différentes formes, avec des logiques d’action diverses. Pour comprendre les dynamiques contemporaines dans les pays émergents, une identification des nouvelles figures de l’acteur dans la globalisation semble donc indispensable, en particulier puisqu’il permettrait d’ouvrir un dialogue transdisciplinaire.

  L'an V des Révolutions au prisme de l'économique et du social

  This colloquium, organized in Beirut as part of the WAFAW program, aims to critically take part in a debate over the socio-economic undergrounds of the “political crises” in the region, a scarcely explored angle when dealing with this issue. It will base its contribution on investigations and original corpuses. Its purpose is to better understand how the Arab, Iranian, Turkish and other political societies observed are workedby highly singular processes (such as the importance of oil, of migration economy, or of war economies) but also amenable to an unequal globalization of exchanges. How (and not why) does the economy play into these political dynamics?

  Comparative approaches: anthropology, economics and politics

  La Côte d’Ivoire a traversé une décennie de crises militaro-politiques qui ont déchiré son tissu sociétal, ébranlé l’État, malmené l’économie. La crise post-électorale de 2010-2011 en a constitué tout à la fois le moment paroxystique et un dénouement. Depuis lors, le pays tente laborieusement de se remettre sur pied, en misant sur une bonne croissance économique pour régler le problème en suspens de la réconciliation post-conflit. Cette demi-journée propose de faire dialoguer trois chercheurs relevant de l’anthropologie, de l’économie et de la science politique, pour réfléchir ensemble aux évolutions passées et en cours en Côte d’Ivoire.

  The political economy of circulation and consumption in Middle Eastern metropolises

  Comparative and connected approaches

  La région du Moyen-Orient qui se dessine à partir des métropoles sur lesquelles porte notre appel (Amman, Beyrouth, Damas, Dubaï, Erbil, Istanbul, Téhéran), est à la fois divisée et interconnectée, mais aussi traversée par des crises politiques et économiques majeures. Espace en tensions, cette région a également été marquée ces dernières décennies par des réformes économiques d’orientation libérale. Ces réformes ont participé d’une redéfinition des circulations des biens et des personnes au niveau local et régional, mais aussi d’une transformation sensible des formes et des modes de consommation. C’est sur ces derniers points, ceux des circulations et des consommations saisies dans un contexte rendant nécessaire une analyse à plusieurs échelles (local, régional, global), que nous souhaitons susciter les contributions de chercheurs appartenant aux différentes disciplines des sciences-sociales et humaines (anthropologie, économie, géographie, histoire, politologie, sociologie).

  Historians have been conscious of the major importance of arsenals and for some time now have been interested in these establishments, for to study the arsenal is to understand the preparation made for war, a common and transversal thread of naval historiography. This unit also lends itself to "total history", that is simultaneously economic, social, financial, technological, industrial, geographical, strategic, maritime ... Naval arsenals are therefore well known and the study of them has mostly been carried out within the framework of major theses, each institution having found "its" historian.

  Geoeconomical and geopolitical approaches

  For several years, the world seems to have entered a period of high instability. Economically, the "subprime mortgage crisis" appeared in 2007 in the USA, then spread planet wide in all areas of activity. In 2015, economic difficulties persist (growth stagnation in developed countries and lower growth in emerging markets, explosion of unemployment, deindustrialisation and offshoring, market tensions in China, the euro zone, etc.). In geopolitical terms, tension spots have also multiplied (Saharian and Sahelian Africa, Middle East, Far East and Eastern Europe) leading to strong migratory waves while power poles seem to be redeploying between the USA, China and other regional powers.The aim of the conference "Contemporary Crisis and changes" is to question these contemporary upheavals through both a geo-economic and a geopolitical reading. The conference will provide elements of analysis and compare them especially with contemporary representations of globalisation emphasizing in particular the logic of closure that seems to characterize this phenomenon.
