  Work in progress on North Africa - from Antiquity to the present day

  Ces dernières années, les recherches sur l’Afrique du Nord ont fait l’objet d’un dynamisme certain, toutes périodes historiques confondues. Le nombre d’études en cours, la variété des sujets et la diversité des approches sont importants et porteurs de renouvellements historiographiques. Malgré ce mouvement général, force est de constater une tendance au maintien des découpages chronologiques classiques des grandes périodes historiques dans les cadres d’analyse et dans les évènements scientifiques eux-mêmes. Partant de ce constat, l’université de Rouen et le Groupe de recherche d'histoire (GRhis) organisent une journée d’étude dont la finalité est la rencontre entre chercheurs de toutes périodes dont les travaux en cours portent sur l’Afrique du Nord.

  Water Management in the Mediterranean during the 1st Millennium BC

  IIIe symposium international HYDRΩMED

  The aim of the meeting is to compare the different modes of adaptation of the Ancient Mediterranean populations to the environmental resources, especially their hydric resources. In a climate marked by unequal distribution of water, the ancient societies, whether Phoenician-Punic, Greek or Etruscan, responded in different ways to the various situations, let alone the hydric crises which may have affected them. The meeting will associate systemic theoretical reflections as well as case studies on ancient sites, to outline the mutations and the permanencies, the possible technological transfers from one society to another. Here, as in other fields of human activity, we shall query the existence of an ancient Mediterranean koine around the knowledge and the technical practices, around the cultural and cultural traditions. The chronology considered runs from the 8^th to the 1^st century BC, i.e. before the diffusion of the Roman models and techniques.

  Theme issue of the Afrique: Archéologie et Arts journal

  Pour son prochain numéro thématique, Afrique : Archéologie et Arts sera dédié à l’Afrique du Nord-Est, avec un zoom sur l’Égypte et le Soudan et sur les problématiques liées à l’eau, qu’elles soient paléoenvironnementales, socio-économiques ou symboliques. Les contributions peuvent prendre la forme de notes sur des fouilles ou travaux récents, ou d’articles apportant un éclairage novateur sur un pan de l’archéologie ou de l’histoire de l’art de la région à l’Holocène moyen.
