Italian Military Occupations in Europe, 1940-1943
Between 1939 and 1943, the Italian armed forces occupied Albania and portions of France, Greece and Yugoslavia. In September 1943 when Italy signed an armistice with the Allies, these territories were quickly occupied by Germany, ending Italian dreams of a European spazio vitale. Although these military occupations ended in failure for Italy, they represent an important aspect of the history of Fascism, military occupations, and the Second World War. This special issue aims to contribute to the historiography of Italian military occupations in Europe, particularly those which present original research.

Ce colloque international et interdisciplinaire souhaite se concentrer sur les territoires épargnés par les combats et sur le sort de la grande communauté des non-combattants plutôt que sur les opérations militaires et le quotidien des hommes au front. Il sera notamment consacré aux villes italiennes de l’arrière et à leur vie culturelle, restée intense durant la Grande Guerre.

Appraisals and perspectives on the regional and European levels
Les Justes parmi les nations constituent une catégorie que l'histoire doit questionner. Titre décerné par l'État d'Israël depuis 1962, partie émergée et médiatisée de l'ensemble plus vaste des sauveteurs - rescuers incarnant une des trois postures face à la Shoah à côté des perpetrators et des bystanders -, les Justes renvoient surtout à la dynamique mémorielle de la deuxième guerre mondiale et du génocide des juifs. C'est pourquoi ces journées d'étude aborderont la question plutôt sous l'angle du sauvetage - terme à discuter - ou de la résistance civile. Pour autant l'histoire des Justes a suscité des enquêtes et réuni des matériaux dont les usages interrogent l'historien.

The Spanish civil war in comic books
L’ambition de ce colloque international est de réfléchir aux représentations de la guerre civile espagnole par la bande dessinée afin de mieux appréhender la valeur patrimoniale, mémorielle, esthétique et symbolique de ce corpus. Il réunit les spécialistes universitaires du sujet (en France, en Espagne et en Amérique latine) ainsi que plusieurs auteurs majeurs qui ont traité du conflit espagnol (entre autres Antonio Altarriba, Sento Llobel, Julio Ribera, Paco Roca, Tito…).

Organisée par la Bibliothèque de documentation internationale contemporaine en partenariat avec les Archives nationales, cette journée d’étude donnera à voir la diversité des sources (archives écrites, iconographiques, photographiques, audiovisuelles, etc.) déjà versées dans des institutions patrimoniales ou encore entre les mains de collectionneurs privés. Elle sera aussi l’occasion de faire le point sur l’évolution des outils permettant de repérer ces archives, et de réfléchir à leurs différents usages — pour en proposer de nouvelles lectures.

Relations between the European Union and Iran - comparative approaches
Le 14 juillet 2015, suite à plusieurs années d'âpres négociations, le plan d'action globale commun signé à Vienne a marqué l'aboutissement des relations diplomatiques menées entre l'Iran et le groupe E3/UE+3 sur le sujet du nucléaire iranien. Depuis, certaines organisations internationales, au titre desquelles figure notamment l'Union européenne (ci-après « UE »), ont progressivement levé certaines de leurs mesures restrictives liées au nucléaire. Les relations entretenues entre l'UE et l'Iran sont donc amenées à changer progressivement de nature. Rompant ainsi avec la décennie précédente caractérisée par une interruption du dialogue dans les domaines autres que ceux relatifs au nucléaire, les nouveaux défis apparaissent.

Partant du constat que la Méditerranée est un objet historique et historiographique attractif mais souvent défini par défaut, et constatant le très petit nombre de lieux d’échange continu entre modernistes et contemporanéistes en histoire méditerranéenne, les organisateurs de ce séminaire proposent une approche des transformations de l’espace méditerranéen sur le long terme (du XVIe au XXe siècle).

Italian political parties’ attitudes, roles, points of view, and reactions vis-à-vis stragismo, subversive plots, right-wing and left-wing terrorism will be under scrutiny, together with their impact on society and institutions. The Organizing Committee encourages studies that also examine minor political parties.The Organizing Committee invites scholars of different disciplines interested in the topic topropose papers on Italian political parties’ attitudes, roles, points of view, and reactions in front of:- stragismo and subversive plots against Italian Republic; origin, development, and social consensus of left-wing armed struggle; the main political changes of the period (e.g., the crisis of center-left governments, the 1974 referendum, the 1975 and 1976 elections, the governments of national solidarity, the end of the Christian-democratic centrality); the dangers of right-wing terrorism; the emergency legislation; the exit strategies from terrorism.

Le XXe siècle est à la fois le siècle d’une reconfiguration profonde des relations sociales de genre et le « Century of Sex » (Dagmar Herzog). En plaçant l’histoire du genre et des sexualités au centre du séminaire, il s’agira de comprendre les relations de domination et de pouvoir au sein des sociétés en guerre et lors des sorties des guerres : domination des hommes sur les femmes, domination de certains hommes sur d’autres hommes, mais aussi rapports de domination sociale et raciale, susceptibles de renverser l’ordre genré. Il s’agira aussi de poursuivre un dialogue franco-allemand et transatlantique autour de ces questions.

The Allied occupation of Western Germany after the Second World War has recently seen a revival of interest among historians. This two-day international conference will showcase new research from scholars based across the globe and provide a forum for the presentation of innovative approaches to the history of the three western zones of occupation. It also aims to stimulate dialogue between historians of the different zones of occupation and so bring together hitherto almost entirely segregated historiographies.

Le Fonds Croix-Rouge française lance son appel post-doctoral pour la bourse Malakoff Médéric sur les migrations dans le Nord de la France, avec comme thématique de recherche : « Entre survie sociale et survie sanitaire, comment allier stratégies humanitaires et sociales face à l'afflux de migrants ? Cas des camps de migrants du Nord de la France ». Cet appel a pour but de décrypter les conditions de vie et de prise en charge des réfugiés et migrants, en étudiant leurs parcours, leurs réalités de vie dans les camps ainsi que les différents types d'aide qui leur sont prodigués.

Whether or not “the entire world” was looking at Berlin, as Reuter asserted, is one of the central questions to be addressed at our conference. Starting from the “frontline city” of Berlin, we will cast our glance to West Germany and its neighboring countries in order not only to frame the Berlin Airlift as a transnational memorial of the Cold War, but also to address, from outside, the question of whether Berlin was really the international focus of the East-West conflict back then, as the press and academia so often portray it.

Spies, counterspies and spying in WWI
La première guerre mondiale est l’occasion d’une expérience d’occupation militaire longue de territoires appartenant aux États belligérants ou envahis. L’espionnage devient une préoccupation, tant des occupants que des occupés et les quatre années voient évoluer les modes de recrutements, les techniques, les modes opératoires, le profil individuel et social des agents ainsi que l'ampleur des réseaux constitués. Les participants à la journée d'études veulent se pencher de manière transnationale sur ce laboratoire qu'a pu constituer l'occupation de la Belgique et du Nord de la France. Partant d'activités menées avec un amateurisme sensible, il s'agira d'observer, au fil de la dramatisation d'une guerre qui dure, la professionnalisation du « métier » d'espion et les jeux de brouillages complexes entre espionnage et contrespionnage, patriotisme ou opportunisme, chez les civils et militaires, hommes et femmes impliqués dans le « grand jeu ».
