  Ce séminaire offre un espace de discussion pour la présentation de réflexions en cours, non seulement sur la constitution mixte, idée qui parcourt l'histoire politique occidentale depuis l'Antiquité, gouvernement idéal associant monarchie, aristocratie et démocratie, mais aussi sur les notions de mélange, mixtion, fusion, médiété, milieu, moyenne/somme, binarité/ternarité, synthèse, composition, harmonie, concorde, etc. C'est pourquoi ce séminaire interdisciplinaire et transpériode est ouvert à tous les acteurs des champs concernés : sciences humaines et sociales, droit, médecine, chimie, physique, mathématiques, lettres et arts...

  Qualifying and Quantifying Parliamentary Activity: Data, Methods and Practices

  Congrès de l'Association française de science politique (AFSP) 2017 – Section thématique 38

  Parliamentary activity is far from being a neglected topic in political science: on the contrary, enough research exists to allow for the confrontation of concurrent hypotheses on the nature, the functioning and the logics of what parliamentarians do. However, our review of that research reveals that it falls short of fully taking into account the qualification and quantification of newer legislative data sources, made available to researchers through digital technology and its implementation by parliamentary services. In light of that review, this thematic panel offers to establish a general review of the ways in which political science research conceptualises both the qualification and quantification of parliamentary activity.

  IX Conference of Spanish, Belgian and Dutch historians. In honour of Professor Hugo de Schepper

  This conference intends to continue the tradition of the Hispanic-Dutch-Belgian meetings and will bring together a number of established and early-career researchers working in the field of the institutional history of the Habsburg Low Countries from the 16^th to the 18^th centuries. It aims to draw attention to a broad range of political, cultural, religious, legal, and military institutions by focusing on the enriching approaches that have shaped historical research on institutional history in the past few decades. At the same time, it hopes to bring into the limelight some exciting new (and often interdisciplinary) perspectives that characterize current research in the field.

  Problems of security in the modern age

  La « sécurité » est l’une des catégories centrales des représentations de l’ordre social et politique ainsi que de l’action des pouvoirs publics, au demeurant une catégorie aussi fluctuante que controversée à travers les siècles. La formulation et le traitement de problèmes sociaux estampillés « sécuritaires » ne sont en rien la marque de nos sociétés contemporaines, on peut observer et analyser ces phénomènes dans de nombreux contextes de l’époque moderne. Les pratiques et discours sociaux visant la production de sécurité peuvent, d’une part, être utilisés comme des sondes des menaces pesant sur la société et des efforts de résolution politique de ces problèmes. Le colloque souhaite étudier de plus près les ambivalences de la politique de sécurité à l’époque moderne (et plus particulièrement au XVI^e siècle), dans les champs où des problèmes sécuritaires se faisaient manifestement jour.

  Secrets of State - information analysis in France (17th-21st centuries) - recent research and new perspectives

  Lors d’une exposition tenue à Paris, les Archives nationales ont présenté au public un ensemble considérable de pièces d’archives (textes réglementaires, dépêches secrètes, relevés de surveillance, lettres d’espions, messages codés, transcriptions d'écoutes, organigrammes de services, etc.), de machines de chiffrage ou d’instruments d’espionnage qui ont révélé l’action secrète de l’État depuis la fin de l’Ancien Régime. Ce colloque s’attache, quant à lui, à faire le bilan d’une décennie d’avancées historiographiques de la recherche française. Comment faire l’histoire d’une activité protégée par le secret ? Quelles voies et quelles méthodes les historiens ont- ils empruntées ? Des administrations du secret aux missions de renseignement et de guerre clandestine, quels nouveaux contours tracent les études françaises sur le renseignement, du XVII^e au XX^e siècle ? Dans une perspective comparative, quelles innovations apportent les études françaises face aux Intelligence Studies ?

  Theological Foundations of Modern Constitutional Theory: 16th-17th Centuries

  Fondements théologiques de la théorie constitutionnelle moderne : XVIe-XVIIe siècles

  This conference aims to assemble different studies laying bridges between modern constitutional theories and theology from the perspective of intellectual history. Though modernity of law and politics has been usually accounted in the context of Reformation, the paper-givers’ approaches to the question will not be restricted in any confessional perspective, Protestant or Catholic. For, whatever the word ‘theology’ may have connoted in the time of religious confrontations, theoretical attempts to legitimize human rights and political authority at those days can be regarded as part of the general current of philosophical investigations, in a new manner and with different foci than ever, into the concept of justice with reference to that of God.
