Over a century of international cooperation
Cette rencontre s’inscrit dans l’année de célébration du centenaire des premières fouilles françaises sur le site emblématique de Baelo Claudia (Tarifa, Cadix). Le colloque entend mettre l’accent sur l'esprit de coopération scientifique internationale, notamment française et allemande, qui anime la recherche en péninsule Ibérique depuis la fin du XIXe siècle. La construction et la consolidation de l’archéologie péninsulaire seront examinées au prisme des relations internationales de 1880 à nos jours.

4th doctoral meeting of the École européenne de Protohistoire de Bibracte
The fourth doctoral meeting of the Ecole européenne de Protohistoire de Bibracte (EEPB) will be hold on the 12th-13th March 2018, at Bibracte – Centre archéologique européen (Bourgogne, France). This year, the meeting will benefit from the partnership of the Casa de Velázquez (Madrid). Since 2015, these Doctoral Meetings have the ambition to gather around similar issues PhD students and young Doctors working on the Bronze and Iron Age through the whole Europe.

Borders and space - issues of definition in the Spanish speaking world, 18th-19th century
Une des tendances récentes de l’historiographie consiste à considérer l’espace comme un biais de renouvellement des recherches sur la construction de l’État moderne et de la nation contemporaine. La réflexion sur les différentes configurations historiques de l’espace permet de déconstruire les schémas généraux de l’histoire des institutions, très fortement marqués par l’idéologie étatique, et de considérer l’histoire « locale » comme une part de l’histoire « globale ». Les historiens du droit sont particulièrement concernés par cette nouvelle perspective transnationale. Le monde hispanique offre des cas de figure de surcroît inhabituels pour le public français. Les trois intervenants de l’atelier-séminaire entrent tous dans cette perspective et parleront des modalités de configuration juridique des espaces politiques.

Cinema, power and freedom in Latin America
Cette journée d’études entend étudier des œuvres cinématographiques et audiovisuelles de l’Amérique latine proposant des représentations des interactions entre le pouvoir et la liberté. Du fait de son enracinement dans les expériences quotidiennes de l’être humain, la création cinématographique et audiovisuelle produite dans cette région offre des éléments qui contribuent à une compréhension de ces notions complexes. Le pouvoir et la liberté sont des pratiques constitutives des relations interhumaines (historiques, politiques, économiques, culturelles, intimes, locales, globales…), dont la théorisation requiert d’instruments disciplinaires et méthodologiques variés.

European Space Agency's Space History Conference
There is more to space than rocket science. Historians, diplomats, economists, law students, political scientists and sociologists have all contributed to our understanding of the space age and its impact on our societies over the past decades. Sixty years on from the placing of the first human-made object in orbit around Earth, space is now an integral part of our daily lives. Space science and technology are projects for the whole of humankind, reaching not only outside Earth’s atmosphere, but also beyond our Solar System. While the technological and scientific challenges of working, living and travelling in space motivate students to pursue such studies, the impact of space activities on our lives on Earth, on relations between nations and organisations, and our collective recent history, provides fertile ground for students and scholars in the humanities to take up space-related subjects.

Five Centuries of Cultural Influence
Generations of scholars have studied the multi-faceted experiences of the Franciscans in Mexico and the ways in which the Franciscan order shaped New Spain and the early Mexican republic. This conference examines the range of Franciscan influence and analyzes new scholarship that focuses on the multiple discourses with which friars engaged native peoples, creole populations, the vice-regal authorities, and other actors throughout the Spanish empire. The conference brings together junior and senior scholars to study the long Franciscan experience in Mexico on the eve of the commemoration of the quincentenary of the Spanish — and thus the Franciscan— presence in Mexico.

Frantz Fanon’s Legacy in the Literature and the Arts of the Americas
One-day conferences
It turns out to be an epistemological necessity to analyze the scope of Fanon’s thought and style in the cultural and artistic productions of the Americas, not only because of Fanon’s concern for the creation and defense of a national culture but also because of his obvious interest for literature and the care he devoted to the process of writing. The transdisciplinary approach of the two one-day conferences « Frantz Fanon’s Legacy in the Literature and the Arts of the Americas » will encompass all the countries and areas of the Americas and the Caribbean, whatever their languages. We also welcome papers on all kinds of art, ranging from literature to cinema, painting, songs and street art (as in Bogota for instance). We warmly welcome papers that will adopt a comparative approach between different geographical areas. Papers will preferably be written in French, but English and Spanish will be accepted.

Exclusion and social discipline in the Medieval city in Europe
14th international meetings of the Middle Ages in Nájera
In the late Middle Ages, exclusion became a basic instrument for urban governance, as it enabled lay and ecclesiastical leaders to maintain their control over urban dwellers on the basis of maintaining a certain social discipline and an “ordered” society. Thus, medieval urban society was defined as a community of values according to the ecclesiastical and secular legislation, and it was articulated as a political discourse, which was incorporated into the public sphere. The urban community had to adapt to a legal and ideological framework and to some parameters of behavior, in which exclusion from the community was a powerful communication tool of social discipline. Historians and Graduate students are encouraged to submit abstracts for research presentations or posters on topics related to “exclusion and social discipline in the Medieval European City”.

The “Landscapes” edition of dearq academic journal invites participants to reflect on what has globally been, principally since the beginning of the twentieth century, the evolution of the concept of landscape; the relevant methods of analysis; the methods of representation, of evaluation, and of teaching. This takes into consideration how the concept is a practical project tool that can be used for land-use planning, what landscape’s level of influence has been on the public policy decision-making process, what instruments and regulations have been used, and also how “landscape” and “territory” coexist.

La Europa del sur (1800-1960)
Este coloquio pretende analizar las modalidades de difusión de las imágenes devocionales en el marco de la evolución de las prácticas religiosas en Europa en los siglos XIX y XX, cuyas repercusiones sociales y culturales en la Europa mediterránea fueron considerables, aunque aún poco exploradas por la historiografía contemporánea española. Para ello, este encuentro reúne a los principales especialistas europeos con el fin de ahondar en temas como el auge de las peregrinaciones; la producción industrial de imágenes piadosas y su circulación entre las clases populares; el fomento por la iglesia de nuevos cultos; la confrontación entre modernidad laica y devociones y ritos tradicionales o el vandalismo iconoclasta.

El jueves 22 de junio y el viernes 23 de junio de 2017 el grupo de especialistas sobre América Latina del equipo de investigación AMERIBER (especialistas de la península ibérica y América Latina) de la université Bordeaux Montaigne (Burdeos, Francia) realiza un coloquio internacional de estudios centroamericanos sobre el tema de la migraciones.

Cet appel vise à susciter des articles concernant les violences fondées sur le genre, qu'elles visent les femmes, les homosexuels ou les trans, cela dans les pays du Sud global. Ces violences peuvent être psychologiques, physiques, sexuelles ou reproductives, y compris obstétricales. Elles peuvent s'exercer dans le cadre du couple, de la famille, du travail, des études, de l'espace public ou d'institutions, telles que la médecine ou l'armée, mais aussi de guerres. Les propositions d'articles peuvent notamment porter sur la mesure de ces violences, les facteurs et contextes qui leur sont associées mais ausi les lois et programmes à leur encontre, les obstacles que ceux-ci rencontrent et les actions qui permettraient de les abolir. Elles pourront émaner des différentes disciplines des sciences sociales.

Theorica 5. Thinking translation in the Middle Ages
Le programme de recherche « Theorica », initié en 2012, se propose de revisiter l’idée reçue selon laquelle le Moyen Âge serait un temps asystématique et par conséquent inapte à toute théorisation. Pour ce cinquième volet, le domaine retenu a été celui des discours sur la traduction, pour interroger la manière dont le Moyen Âge a ressenti le besoin de théoriser la traduction. Il ne s’agit pas ici d’appliquer les méthodes d’analyse de la traductologie contemporaine aux textes médiévaux mais bien d’interroger le regard porté sur la traduction par les théoriciens et/ou praticiens du Moyen Âge afin de dégager les différentes conceptions de la traduction qui s’opposaient à la fin du Moyen Âge.

Cette journée a pour objet d'étude le théâtre comme instrument de protestation et de dissidence en Espagne dans les dernières années de la dictature et au début de la démocratie. L’objectif de cette journée est donc de s’interroger sur le caractère revendicatif, critique et protestataire du théâtre et les moyens mis en place dans un contexte de répression culturelle, ainsi qu’à l’aube de la démocratie.

Depuis l’élection d’Hugo Chávez, en 1998, dix pays latino-américains ont choisi une alternance gouvernementale à gauche, articulée autour de projets de type progressistes ou nationalistes-populaires. Après avoir été le laboratoire du néo-libéralisme, l’Amérique latine serait ainsi devenue celui de sa contestation, avec le surgissement d’exécutifs critiquant le « consensus de Washington », dans certains cas issus de puissants mouvements sociaux et/ou de profondes crises des systèmes politiques traditionnels.

Between the 23rd and 25th of October 2017, the Institute for Medieval Studies (IEM) will organize the V colloquium “The New Medieval Lisbon”. The commemorative evocation of the conquests of Lisbon in 1147 and of Alcácer do Sal in 1217 is the pretext for a broader debate not only around these events, their meaning and impact, but also on its wider context, and on the diversity of the ways that, at the time, were being shaped and reshaped, both in the peninsular context and in the wider scenarios which linked the West to the East.

Don de dieu accepté sans planification par une large majorité, la naissance d’un enfant est devenue un événement moins fréquent dans la vie des latino-américain-e-s. Cette transition démographique de la fécondité s’est accompagnée d’une médicalisation croissante de la vie reproductive : planification familiale et contraception, suivi des grossesses et des accouchements, aide à la conception. Les évolutions des comportements, des normes sociales et biomédicales qui les fondent, ainsi que celles des politiques sociales, familiales, démographiques, entraînent un renouvellement des problématiques sociétales et de recherche liées à la naissance d’un enfant et à la fécondité.

Cette année, le Chili commémore la traversée des Andes par San Martín et O’Higgins, et pour compléter les manifestations organisées à cette occasion, il nous a semblé opportun d’ouvrir les frontières du Chili et de nous interroger sur ses relations avec le monde extérieur.
