These days communication and information are characterized by immediacy, speed, and interactivity. Facebook and Instagram accounts, YouTube channels, and blogs transmit a perpetual flow of information, shared videos, pictures, and other content which creates networks and incentivizes sharing in a constantly evolving language. Contemporary mass media therefore ensures that, today more than ever, people in African countries are at the same time autonomous producers and users of a debate, through partly traditional, partly innovative channels, about life in Africa and African communities’ identity, with a tale that travels across the borders of individual countries and the continent itself.

The essential of mediation

Towards a consensus of the concept in the humanities and social sciences

Le concept et le terme de « médiation » apparaissent dans diverses sciences humaines et sociales, notamment en droit, en philosophie, en psychologie, en sciences du langage, en sciences de la communication et en sciences de l’éducation. La pluralité des conceptualisations et la polysémie du terme que l’on repère souvent dans les discours spécialisés sont susceptibles d’entraver l’intercompréhension. Dans un tel scénario, il devient urgent de discerner l’essentiel de la médiation et d’en mettre en lumière les traits conceptuels et linguistiques significatifs, identifiés par des experts. Le colloque vise à vérifier la possibilité de partager une même unité conceptuelle et terminologique à travers le dialogue scientifique interdisciplinaire. Il veut également contribuer à renforcer la médiation en tant que domaine autonome du savoir, disposant d’une ontologie et d’une terminologie de référence.

Dans le cadre du projet « À partir d'Ovide », l'association culturelle Rodopis organise un colloque titré Metamorfosi: identità in smottamento (Metamorphosis: the Landslide of Identity), qui aura lieu à Urbino (Italie) le 30 novembre et 1 décembre 2017. Le colloque se propose d'analyser dans une perspective multidiscliplinaire (la participation de sociologues, anthropologues, historiens, philosophes, experts de littératures anciennes et modernes est souhaitée) les problèmes posés par les notions d'indentité, alterité, transformation, soit à partir de l'examen de cas d'études, soit à partir d'une perspective epistémologique.

Scritture femminili del Novecento Europeo

In un momento in cui i flussi migratori ci interpellano sempre più e in un’ottica sempre meno nazionale e sempre più europea, e in cui la categoria di frontiera è in via di profonda ridefinizione, il pensiero di coloro che hanno conosciuto/raccontato l’esilio è un supporto prezioso alle nostre riflessioni più attuali. I Club Soroptimist International di Messina e di Spadafora Gallo-Niceto organizzano un Convegno sulla Letteratura femminile del Novecento Europeo sul tema dell’Esilio. Gli interventi che si succederanno andranno ad abbracciare: l’esperienza esistenziale di autrici di testi letterari di qualsiasi genere che hanno vissuto in prima personale la fuga e il confino, attraverso i loro scritti personali e autobiografici; le storie di finzione (romanzi, poesie, racconti, radiodrammi, …) pubblicate da autrici che hanno affrontato tali tematiche senza per questo aver vissuto necessariamente sulla propria pelle l’erranza e l’estradizione.

The topic of the the sixth economic history summer school will enable us to continue and deepen the themes developed over the past few years (the value of things, poverty, common goods, means of payment and quality). While work involves acting on material things, its organization implies a reflection on the property of things, the relationships with time, discipline, control and know-how. On the part of governments, it also requires information that makes it possible to reflect on the state of economic life as well as on all the conflicts endemic to society, to be able to work out legal and practical devices that are necessary for the constitution of a particular knowledge. It also finally questions issues around technical training and the command of various forms of know-how, in contexts that sometimes place some rival systems in a competing situation.

The Seminar is an area of francophone scientific debate within the annual congress of the major European academic society of public management and administration (European Group for Public Administration EGPA-GEAP). A biopolitics perspective

Migrant children are often at the crossroads of conflicting priorities related to local and global issues (conflict, displacement, poverty, (under)development). Throughout history, states, organisations, institutions, and communities have tried to manage and control migrants and migratory processes. While the latter topic has been the subject of extensive research, the study of child migration lags behind. This workshop aims to address this gap by adopting Foucault’s theoretical framework of biopolitics – a control apparatus exerted over a population – to the case of children.

The hinterlands of the Mediterranean

L'arrière-pays des villes de mer

Organisé dans le cadre du Laboratoire international associé (LIA) MediterraPolis, le colloque vise à promouvoir une réflexion interdisciplinaire (sociologie, urbanisme, histoire, géographie et économie) sur les hinterlands – les territoires qui entourent les villes portuaires – dans le contexte des grandes agglomérations en Méditerranée. Au cours des siècles, les hinterlands se sont profondément transformés, dans leurs paysages, leurs habitats et leurs morphologies, avec des ceintures, des fragmentations et des conurbations changeantes, jusqu’à la formation des aires métropolitaines. L’objectif de ce colloque est d’étudier ces évolutions de longue durée, et de développer une réflexion sur les rapports multiples qui lient les villes et leurs hinterlands, observés notamment au prisme des mobilités qui façonnent les territoires métropolitains.

Dans le champ historique, cet intérêt a été en outre renforcé par le développement spécifique de plusieurs axes de recherches : l’histoire des migrations, des réseaux marchands, des diasporas, des sociétés urbaines, ou encore des sociétés coloniales.
