Call for papers - Middle Ages

    Formulas in Medieval Culture

The fourth bi-annual conference on Formulas in Medieval Culture (initiated by the research groups GRENDEL and IDEA, based at the University of Lorraine, France) will be held on the 13th, 14th and 15th of June 2018 at the Centre d'Etudes Supérieures de Civilisation Médiévale (CESCM) at the University of Poitiers. In the Middle Ages, modes of thought and representation involving repetition and regularity, which were expected and easily identifiable, were sources of rich tensions between individual expression and collective norms, between change and continuity, between creation and convention.

Ecotones 2: Experiences of Migration and Transformations in the Ecotones

The organizing committee welcomes papers addressing social, cultural and artistic dynamics in relation with migration and transformative ecotones. We encourage the submission of papers exploring’ subjectivities and their expression through different narrative forms (art pieces, novels, administrative narratives, or stories collected by ethnographic research). Our intent is to open a cross-feeding multidisciplinary dialogue. We welcome examinations of literature, comparisons of artistic expression, investigations of anthropological discoveries, as well as analysis within the political sciences, history and geography.

"Trames arborescentes" Arborescent thining, writing tools and the manufacture of history from Antiquity to the Renaissance

"Trames arborescentes" - arborescence in research, third study day
