  The Studienstiftung des Abgeordnetenhauses von Berlin (Study Foundation of the Berlin House of Representatives) sponsors a scholarship programme that offers financial support to students and young researchers. The programme is directed to citizens of the United States of America, Great Britain, France, and the successor states of the former Soviet Union. Applications from all fields are accepted. Applicants should want to use research facilities in Berlin and/or study at a Berlin institution of higher education.

  Representations of Change

  Time, Space, and Power in Qualitative Research on the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Region and Europe

  Since the start of the 21^st century seemingly unpredictable change, in all its different guises, has fueled the preoccupations of academic and non-academic publics. The financial crisis, the “Arab Spring”, protest movements in southern Europe, the rise of Daesh and right-wing populism, as well as the environmental crisis all make it very difficult to rely on Francis Fukuyama’s theory of “end of history”, which now seems to merely reflect the euphoria of liberal elites following the collapse of the Soviet Union (1992). This workshop intends to reflect more closely on the webs of power affecting both the researcher and‚ the researched when they intend to represent change.

  La phase postdoctorale en France et en Allemagne

  La soutenance d’une thèse de doctorat marque la fin d’un cycle et la reconnaissance de ses pairs. Mais elle ouvre dans le même temps une phase d’incertitudes et d’inquiétudes légitimes sur son avenir professionnel à court, moyen et long terme. Quel que soit le système universitaire dans lequel on a fait sa thèse, les jeunes chercheurs.es partagent de part et d’autre du Rhin un certain nombre de questions, de doutes et d’angoisses, qui portent tant sur les aspects institutionnels que sur les choix très concrets à faire : doit-on privilégier la carte de l’internationalisation de son parcours ? Comment arriver à construire un nouveau sujet de recherche ? Quelles sont les possibilités structurelles qui s’offrent en France, en Allemagne ou ailleurs ?

  Soixante aprés la signature du traité de Rome, l'Union européenne est confrontée à de nouveaux défis : accroissement des migrations à grandes échelles, montée des partis ultra-nationalistes et eurosceptiques et crainte des attaques terroristes. Face à ces enjeux,les reponses politiques européennes ou étatiques semblent marquées par le repli et l'exclusion. À l'aune de cette crise, il est à craindre que les valeurs européennes de tolérance, de démocratie et d'humanisme soient en danger de disparition. Dans ce contexte, il apparaît nécessaire de convoquer le rôle de l'éducation et notamment de la formation des enseignants dans cette évolution et notamment dans la perception des frontières qu'elles soient physique ou mentales.
