  La santé est aujourd’hui une préoccupation majeure pour les différents acteurs et organismes concourant à la fabrication et à la gestion de l’environnement bâti. En témoigne le foisonnement de publications et d’événements autour de ce thème, en France comme à l’étranger. Le colloque « San-Te », organisé dans le cadre du programme de recherche LIFE, ambitionne de contribuer à nourrir ces débats en interrogeant les enjeux complexes liés à la santé et au bien-être en milieu urbain et les manières dont ils sont pris en compte dans les politiques et l’action publiques.

  OK Computer, twenty years on

  Radiohead’s musical, cultural, and political legacies

  Following a symposium held at Rennes 2 University last may, further contributions (in English or French) are now sought in order to publish a wide-ranging, peer-reviewed collection of articles appraising OK Computer’s musical, cultural and political legacy twenty years after its release. The aim of this publication is to bring together contributions from scholars who wish to confront Radiohead’s work with their own disciplinary methodologies, including (but not limited to) musicology, sociology, art history, political science, literature, cultural studies or even economics.

  Dissonance, eclecticism and the fusion of genres in modern and contemporary English-speaking culture

  L’objet de cette journée d’études est d’interroger les possibilités ouvertes par la sociologie culturelle - notamment les concepts d'omnivorisme, d'éclectisme, de dissonance - aux autres disciplines, notamment celles (civilisation, littérature, histoire) traditionnellement attachées à des aires culturelles (anglophone notamment) et plus ouvertes au syncrétisme théorique que la sociologie. La problématique du mélange des genres constitue-elle une approche permettant d’appréhender la culture dans son ensemble ? C’est ce que nous nous proposons de déplier pendant cette journée d’études, en s’attachant à la fois au point de vue des consommateurs, des créateurs et des créations culturelles.

  Race and class in Great Britain and America (17th-19th centuries)

  Les nouvelles populations rencontrées en Afrique et en Amérique suite aux premières découvertes à l’époque moderne, captèrent l’intérêt des naturalistes européens qui cherchèrent à catégoriser l’espèce humaine en différents sous-groupes raciaux ayant des traits biologiques et moraux communs. De cette classification émergea l’idée de supériorité « naturelle » d’un groupe par rapports aux autres, celui de l’élite blanche européenne. Ainsi, les taxonomies raciales qui se développèrent aux XVII^e, XVIII^e et XIX^e siècles en Grande-Bretagne et en Amérique étaient et continuent d’être inséparables des questions de classe et de hiérarchisation sociale.

  Women in the public space, 1800-1939

  Great Britain, Ireland, Empire and Commonwealth

  “The Angel in the House” is the image most commonly retained of British women in the nineteenth century. This reductive and repressive ideal, emerging from values propagated by the literary, religious, medical political discourses of the time, still persists today in the collective unconscious. Although this model has increasingly been questioned by researchers in the humanities, the focus has tended to be on the beginning of the 20th century. This one-day conference aims to pursue this still neglected area, bringing the Victorian and Edwardian woman further out of her “cloister” or “sphere”, and exploring the destinies of those women who occupied the public space in Great Britain, Ireland and, by extension, the Empire: activists, explorers, artists, writers and sportswomen to name but a few.

  A comparative analysis of volunteers' engagement in British and French pro-asylum charities

  Ce recrutement concerne un poste de chercheur post-doctorant qui dans le cadre d'un programme de recherche intitulé Exploring the frames of altruistic action. A comparative analysis of volunteers' engagement in British and French pro-asylum charities. Ce dernier est financé par l'ESRC et coordonné par Pierre Monforte (université de Leicester) et Estelle d'Halluin (université de Nantes). Il s'agit d'un contrat à durée déterminée de 24 mois, à compter du 1er septembre 2017, pour un 80% ETP au sein du Centre nantais de sociologie.
