  Dialogues épistémologiques

  Le séminaire d'échange bi-national Paris-Cambridge est une initiative pour faire dialoguer archéologues de Cambridge et de Paris. Ce séminaire vise à rapprocher deux traditions de pensée relativement séparées, notamment en Préhistoire. Chaque séance sera centrée sur un thème unique, autour duquel un chercheur de Cambridge et un chercheur de Paris dialogueront par des présentations en miroir. Ils apporteront un aperçu des tendances épistémologiques de la discipline, à l'appui de leurs propres travaux, et fourniront leur vision sur les orientations futures de la recherche sur les sociétés préhistoriques.

  Constructing Kurgans

  Burial mounds and funerary customs in the Caucasus, Northwestern Iran and Eastern Anatolia during the Bronze and Iron Age

  The tradition of burying the dead in burial mounds (kurgans), usually consisting of a funerary chamber limited by stone or brickslabs and covered by dirt and gravel, started in the fourth millennium BCE in the northern Caucasus and then spread south to the rest of the Caucasus regions, eastern Anatolia and northwestern Iran during the Bronze Age and Iron Age. The spread of the kurgan tradition, as well as the territorial, political, social, and cultural values embedded in their construction and their symbolic relation to the surrounding landscape are under debate. The workshop aims to examine chronological issues, cultural dynamics at inter-regional scale, rituals and burial patterns related to these funerary structures. The beliefs and ideologies that possibly connected the "kurgan people" over such a wide geographical area, as well as past and present theoretical frameworks, will also be discussed.

  Archeological discussion on the current state of excavations and archeological research at the CNRPAH

  Un programme de recherches est actuellement conduit par le Centre national de recherches préhistoriques, anthropologiques et historiques (CNRPAH, Algérie), dont le directeur Slimane Hachi présentera les projets, les travaux de fouilles et l'art rupestre de Tafedest dans l'Ahaggar. Ainsi, de récentes fouilles archéologiques dans la grotte de Gueldaman, près de la ville d’Akbou, dans la région de Bejaïa, ont livré d’importantes découvertes relatives aux cultures néolithiques apparues il y a 7200 ans. Le responsable des fouilles, Farid Kherbouche, exposera leurs enseignements.
