  Biographical and Intellectual History of Science, Technology and Innovation

  Philosophical perspectives and political visions

  This is an International Conference of advanced training and postgraduate education and research in the History of Science field, although following an interdisciplinary and collaborative perspective, open to a specialized public as well as other interested and general public. Our main purpose is to value the biographical methodology approach in academic training and scholarly research, not just for the historiographic practice, where it is of increasing interest the conjunction between History of Science and Intellectual History, but also with regard to broader contexts of production and incorporation of knowledge both by the concerned communities and by a socially and publicly responsible society.

  Histoire d’une critique de la modernité technique en France (du XXe siècle à nos jours)

  La pensée critique de la modernité n’a jamais été autant d’actualité. Elle a aussi une histoire, notamment depuis la fin du XVIII^e siècle. Ses acteurs peuvent avoir été soit des mouvements (des luddites de 1810 aux surréalistes de la fin des années 1950, et d’autres mouvements de nos jours), soit des penseurs relativement isolés, et plus impliqués dans l’écriture (parfois le pamphlet) que dans l’action politique transformatrice. Le programme proposé insiste sur cette deuxième catégorie, plus méconnue, mais aborde aussi la première catégorie – dans les deux cas sur une période s’étalant du début du XX^e siècle à nos jours. Il les met en perspective avec certains discours d’exaltation de la modernité technique souvent dominants qu’ils critiquent, notamment dans la période des années 1930 et celle des années 1960-1980.
