  Litany in the Arts and Culture

  The litany derives from ancient religious rites. Throughout the ages, however, it spread across many countries and became much more than a mere form of prayer. As has been demonstrated by our recent studies on the litanic forms in European poetry it is possible to reconstruct a cultural and literary map of European regions that traces the level of their participation in and contribution to the litanic tradition. The litanic verse is marked by religious semantics, but it also bears the mark of inter-European divisions, such as those experienced between and within various denominations, countries and nations, as well as the original folk cultures. Therefore, the litany may be of interest to scholars specializing in areas such the emergence of national identities and religious minorities, the crossover between art and religion as well as between music and poetry, the history of liturgy and spiritual life, the cultural exchanges between various nations.

  Bureaucracy and identity construction in the colonial and post-colonial context (1500–2015)

  Based on a trilateral German, French and Senegalese cooperation, we wish to contribute to the academic exchange in African Studies between Europe, Africa and elsewhere. The summer school combines the reading of theory-related texts, the presentation of selected problems and case studies, as well as discussions. Its aim is to provide a solid foundation for further research and reflection, which will open up new perspectives and lead to cutting-edge findings.

  De par son origine et son histoire même, le terme tabou s'inscrit en premier lieu dans le large champ de l'anthropologie. Il se donne à comprendre comme une pratique sociale condensant à la fois interdit, impureté et sacré. Selon les usages et les mœurs, sa mise en œuvre se traduit le plus souvent par des injonctions réglementées proscrivant de toucher à la chose tabouée. Dans ce sens, l'exercice social du tabou peut peser non seulement sur la personne, son corps, ses gestes, sa parole mais peut également façonner, réglementer, determiner son mode de vie, voire mettre fin à sa vie.

  Plural approaches - cycle of transdisciplinary seminars

  Ce séminaire aura lieu à raison d'environ une séance mensuelle durant l'année universitaire 2016-2017. Il réunira à chaque fois des chercheurs confirmés, issus de différentes disciplines (histoire, sociologie, histoire des religions, études scandinaves, études allemandes) et des jeunes chercheurs, et permettra des « approches plurielles » du phénomène de la Réforme et de ses conséquences à long terme dans les aires germanique, scandinave et néerlandophone, ainsi qu'en France.
