  The Vodun/Orisha pantheon - an answer to the world issues of tomorrow

  Porto-Novo, Capitale du Bénin a été pendant trois siècles et jusqu'a l'arrivée du colonisateur français en 1894, le cœur du royaume de Xogbonou. Ce passé a laissé dans le ville les traces matérielles plus ou moins conservées et qui donnent à cette ville une attractivité singulière. Le colloque scientifique du Festival international de Porto-Novo est un moment de réflexion sur son histoire et les grands enjeux du développement. Le présent appel à communications se définit donc comme une contribution à une meilleure connaissances des enjeux mondiaux d'aujourd'hui et de demain, mais aussi comme l'opportunité d'une large réflexion sur le panthéon Vodùn / Orisha ainsi que leur réponse aux questionnement du monde.

  Issue of “Open Cultural Studies”

  From novels to government reports, the Victorians attached unprecedented significance to domesticity. The household was a central institution, and their occupants played out their different roles according to custom and circumstance. Within its sphere, gender, class, economic and political conflicts were played out as the household provided the background for important social practices. These practices ranged from the kitchen to the parlour, from the street to the Houses of Parliament, from the colonial metropole to the British colonial outposts in Africa, Asia, Australia and the Pacific.

  Le colloque intitulé « Les frontières du privé » organisé par le Groupe de recherches sociologiques sur les sociétés contemporaines (GRESCO) entend questionner les frontières d'une catégorie faisant l'objet de multiples usages, mais encore assez peu théorisée et donnant lieu à des définitions hétérogènes : le « privé ». Saisir le privé à partir de ses limites et des lignes de démarcation qui le séparent d'autres espaces et d'autres temps (publics, professionnels, institutionnels, etc.) ; telle est la réflexion collective à laquelle nous vous convions chaleureusement à partir de plus d'une trentaine de contributions émanant de chercheur·e·s en sciences sociales.

  Young researchers day at the Institut de Géographie de Paris (JIG) 2017

  La géographie entretient avec le pouvoir institutionnel des rapports complexes. Cette journée des jeunes chercheur·e·s de l’Institut de géographie 2017 cherche à interroger ce rapport de la discipline au pouvoir établi, institutionnel, dominant. Plutôt que de questionner l’existence d’une géographie alternative que revendiquent de nombreux géographes, on pose ici la question de ses frontières. Qu’est-ce qu’une géographie alternative ? À partir de quand et jusqu’à quel point une géographie est-elle alternative ? Faut-il l’intégrer, et si oui comment, aux structures institutionnelles classiques que sont par exemple l’université et les laboratoires de recherche, qui sont eux aussi vecteurs d’une certaine norme ?

  Debating Homelessness

  Actualities and new perspectives in social science research

  Homelessness, has been recognized as a public problem, not only by international organizations, but also by the national and local authorities from many countries. Homelessness became also a scientific problem. Many generations of researchers conducted inquiries among homeless people. They analysed the phenomenon of homelessness in a longer history of the treatment of poverty in the occidental societies. They were also able to describe the survival on the streets, the different configurations of support, the social violence against homeless people, the construction of social problem during different eras, etc. This congress wishes to offer a space for exchange in order to develop new perspectives in the field of homelessness research.
