Personal small ads in the contemporary press (18th-20th century)
This colloquium aims to bring historians and scholars from related disciplines together to engage collectively with the personal ad, considered both as object and as source, from the second half of the eighteenth century through the first half of the twentieth. While the focus will be on the French press, comparative perspectives are welcome.

Caribbean literature and comparative perspectives - the current state of research
L'affirmation conjointe de la cohérence et de la diversité des littératures caribéennes se retrouve souvent lorsqu'il s'agit de définir les contours d'une littérature caribéenne unifiée, dotée d'une dynamique propre. Dans un numéro de la Revue de Littérature comparée datant de 2002 entièrement consacré aux littératures caribéennes, la Caraïbe était qualifiée d' « espace comparatiste ». Qu'en est-il, quinze ans plus tard, des études comparatistes sur l'espace caribéen au sein de l'université française ? Cette journée d'étude vise à dresser un état des lieux de la recherche en cours sur les littératures caribéennes, en particulier parmi les jeunes chercheurs.

Ihr wissenschaftliches Profil ist vor allem geprägt durch langfristig orientierte Grundlagenforschung der Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaften. Die Akademie beschäftigt etwa 350 Mitarbeiter/innen, ihr Jahresbudget beträgt rund 20 Mio. Euro. Die Akademie sucht für das Akademienvorhaben „Alexander von Humboldt auf Reisen – Wissenschaft aus der Bewegung (AvH-R)“ zum 1. Oktober 2017 eine/n wissenschaftliche/n Mitarbeiter/in mit 80% der tariflichen Regelarbeitszeit, zunächst befristet für zwei Jahre.

Mapping Architectural Criticism Third International Symposium
This international symposium is part of the ANR research project Mapping Architectural Criticism, which aims to develop a field of research on the history of architectural criticism, from the last decades of the 19th century to the present day. The symposium intends to debate two key questions related to the geographies of criticism: what are criticism’s disciplinary boundaries and which territories has criticism shared from the last decades of the 19th to the end of the 20th century with other disciplines.

Colloque Protagoras
La radicalité politique – objet de nombreuses études en sociologie de l’action collective, mais aussi en philosophie – constitue un terrain d’enquête particulièrement fertile au regard de la variété des corpus qu’elle nourrit et des mobilisations qu’elle porte à gauche comme à droite. Lieu travaillé par des luttes symboliques visant la définition de la réalité. Une arène où s’illustrent, s’entrecroisent et s’affrontent visions du monde, idées, projets et dynamiques contradictoires. Ceci dit, malgré l’intérêt du terrain, les recherches dédiées à la radicalité, en communication politique comme en sciences du langage, n’en restent pas moins marginales. C’est à ce vide (au moins relatif) qu’entend répondre le présent colloque en réunissant chercheurs pluridisciplinaires, professionnels et praticiens de la communica-tion publique et politique.

Sciences and publishing, from 1780 to the interwar period
Ce numéro spécial de la revue Philosophia Scientiae vise à faire dialoguer, même de manière exploratoire, l'histoire des sciences et celle de l'édition afin d’apporter un éclairage sur la manière dont les sciences se sont élaborées de 1780 à l’entre-deux-guerres, depuis la diffusion de l’Encyclopédie jusqu’à l’émergence d’un marché de masse de l’édition scientifique, qui naît entre autres avec l’édition scolaire dans le dernier tiers du XIXe siècle.

The margins and outskirts of the book world
La deuxième journée d’études organisée par l’équipe du projet DEF19 aura pour thème les périphéries et les marges de l’activité éditoriale au XIXe siècle. À l’heure en effet où les grands éditeurs parisiens ou provinciaux ont pour beaucoup fait l’objet d’études historiques et sont donc relativement bien connus, le recensement entrepris dans le cadre de DEF19 a pour ambition de faire sortir de l’ombre quantité de figures inconnues. Cette rencontre se propose donc de réfléchir aux enjeux historiographiques et méthodologiques de cette redécouverte des éditeurs marginaux, moins connus et/ou moins étudiés.

Ce colloque portera sur la réception à l'étranger du poète français Jacques Delille (1738-1813), figure de proue d'une poésie didactique et descriptive qui célèbre la nature, les sciences et les arts. Fluctuante et pafois fortement contrastée d'un pays à l'autre, cette réception sera étudiée du vivant de l'auteur et jusqu'à la fin du XIXe siècle, aussi bien dans le domaine de la littérature que dans le reste du champ culturel et artistique. En la documentant par des études ciblées, nous chercherons à saisir les dynamiques de diffusion, de réinterprétation, voire d’instrumentalisation qui y présidèrent.

New perspectives on the concept of authorship, 1700-1900
The goal of this conference is to reassess, challenge, and enlarge the concept of authorship, by giving the author a post-mortem of sorts. To do this, we want to bring together fresh and critical historiographical perspectives on the concept of authorship, and challenge participants to think in comparative and transnational frameworks. Ideally, we seek to draw together work from a wide variety of sub-disciplines, creating a dialogue which connects often-separated fields such as book history and literary history.

Food at the heart of nineteenth-century art
This symposium intends to study the various and complex relations between food, the experience of eating, and nineteenth-century art. For this conference, we welcome papers that discuss how the development of the food industry and the changing notion of “taste” and social mores are reflected in nineteenth-century art in the broadest sense. Papers may concern visual arts including graphic arts in the form of illustrated advertisements and culinary literature, as well as nouveautés (objects which were designed to reflect the evolution of eating and table manners).
