  L’objectif de ce module est de diffuser auprès de tous les publics les connaissances les plus pointues et les plus récentes concernant les différentes formes d’esclavage et de lutte contre celles-ci au cours de l’histoire. Les cours sont assurés par des enseignants-chercheurs de l’université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, sous la coordination scientifique de l’Institut d’histoire de la Révolution française.

  The transition from republican to imperial rule is one of the main turning points in the history of the ancient world, which had profound consequences for the lives of Roman men and women. As the first emperor, Augustus anchored his multiple political innovations by presenting them as the restoration of the Roman Republic. As part of this restoration programme he posed as the restorer of traditional Roman moral values, issuing legislation to stimulate marriages within the elite and to curb adultery (the Leges Juliae de maritandis ordinibus and de adulteriis coercendis). The ius trium liberorum, which was part of this legislation, gave women sui iuris with three or more children full legal capacity over their property, thus paving the way for women’s civic engagement and public visibility, for instance as benefactresses in numerous cities of Italy and the provinces.

Plus largement, cette semaine de formation peut intéresser les masterant(e)s dont les recherches portent sur l’histoire des sociétés urbaines d’Italie et d’Occident, dans l’Antiquité et au Moyen Âge.

Cette importance se traduit par la multiplicité et la diversité des processus et des savoir-faire de production, de transformation et de commercialisation des aliments. Les variations spatiales ou temporelles, séparant la production de la consommation, conduisent à interroger les modalités de ravitaillement et de commercialisation des denrées, ainsi que la saisonnalité des produits.
