DARIAH Day is a one day workshop intended to introduce the Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH) to the linguistic community in Zurich. The workshop will focus on the #dariahTeach platform, which was created through the funding of an ERASMUS+ strategic partnership to test modules for open-source, high-quality, multilingual teaching materials for the digital arts and humanities.

An International Symposium
A symposium, New Directions for Libraries, Scholars, and Partnerships, will take place on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the German National Library during the Frankfurt Book Fair. The Symposium is sponsored by the Collaborative Initiative for French Language Collections (CIFNAL) and the German-North American Resources Partnership (GNARP), both working projects of the Center for Research Libraries (Chicago, USA), with support from the German National Library and other French, German, and international partners. Session topics include: collections and collaboration; digital scholarship; the publishing revolution; new dimensions of service to scholars and students; and new strategies for services and partnerships.

Creating models for the epistolary space in history - issues and methods
Enjeux et méthodes
Le but de cette journée d’étude est de réunir des historiens spécialistes de correspondances, de cartographie ancienne ou d’humanités numériques afin de réfléchir sur les expériences en cours et de confronter leurs pratiques. On s’intéressera aux solutions techniques innovantes retenues dans des études de cas qui seront exposées, mais aussi aux réflexions critiques sur ces modélisations : comment ne pas tomber dans les pièges tendus par des représentations qui risquent d’être d’autant plus illusoires qu’elles se fondent sur des effets d’image puissants et des avalanches de données ? Peut-on dégager quelques grandes règles qu’il convient d’observer pour préserver une pleine validité scientifique aux modèles expérimentés ? Comment traiter également le fait que la plupart des corpus historiques comportent des lacunes ou des incertitudes parfois considérables, et posent souvent des difficultés d’identification des lieux géographiques ?

On 23 March 2017 the beta version of the platform #dariahTeach and the content will be released at 5.30pm. The launch ceremony will available via a live stream from the Lausanne campus (CH). #dariahTeach is an open source, extensible, online multilingual, community-driven platform for high quality teaching and training materials for the digital humanities specifically tailored for third-level education.

As a follow-up to the realizations from a previous scientific symposium on the “Old Book — Cultural-Historical and Scientific Source” (Osijek, October 25 and 26, 2013) and the second interdisciplinary scientific symposium with international participation titled “Literary Heritage Nowadays” (Osijek, November 6 and 7, 2015), by virtue of this conference the organizers would like to facilitate their in-depth analysis and upgrade while especially providing their contribution to a continued study of the opus of the Franciscan esthetician, philosophical-theological writer, Latinist, historian and translator Emerik (Mirko) Pavić (1716 – 1780), whose selected works were dispatched to be digitized within the aforementioned project, on the occasion of his 300th birth anniversary.

UDPN seminar (the uses of digitised heritage) (2016/17)
Au cours de cette deuxième session du séminaire annuel du réseau Usages des patrimoines numérisés, les séances seront organisées dans un souci de développer des approches qui puissent être utiles dans une perspective d’initiation et de formation aux pratiques des humanités numériques et aux questionnements épistémologiques et méthodologiques non seulement auprès des doctorants et chercheurs mais aussi auprès de professionnels du patrimoine. Il s’agit d’envisager différents types de matériaux, de méthodes et de démarches au travers d’expérimentations et de réalisations techniques et pratiques issus des projets UDPN afin d’envisager leur prolongement et extension.

Training in digital humanities practices, LabexMed/MMSH
Les humanités numériques – Digital Humanities – se sont structurées avec l’intensification des usages des technologies numériques à tous les niveaux de la recherche en sciences humaines et sociales. LabexMed a pour objectif de promouvoir les Digital Humanities et la diffusion de nouvelles pratiques collaboratives dans le domaine des sciences humaines et sociales dans les pays de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée. Les ateliers du numérique ont pour but de favoriser une large appropriation des outils et des standards du numérique ; de partager, de mettre en réseau et de rendre accessibles les ressources documentaires des laboratoires partenaires de LabexMed.
