Garden and melancholy in Europe between the XVIIIth century and the contemporary era
The research group ERLIS (EA 4254, University of Caen) is preparing a collective work on the theme "Garden and melancholy in Europe between the eighteenth century and the contemporary era". The publication will take the form of a special issue of the electronic journal Cultural History of Europe, scheduled for autumn 2018.

Spaces and industrial landscapes - Zola and the social realities of his age
Le colloque sera international et interdisciplinaire. Le sujet est à interpréter de manière large, afin d’inclure des écrivains et artistes contemporains de Zola, des analyses génétiques, politico-historiques et sociologiques aussi bien que des études de l’œuvre de Zola. Les invités d’honneur seront Professeur Henri Mitterand, Madame Martine Le Blond Zola et Madame Monique Sicard. Parmi les activités proposées il y aura une exposition, une visite du Musée de la mine de Lewarde et une sortie sur les pas de Zola à Anzin.

Depuis un siècle, le champ patrimonial connaît une extension remarquable. Alors que les notions de patrimoine culturel et patrimoine naturel s’enrichissent, leurs interactions sont désormais au cœur des enjeux de connaissance, de protection et de mise en valeur. À ce titre, les sites archéologiques et les paysages qui résultent de l’interaction entre facteurs naturels et humains, entretiennent des liens particuliers. L’objet de ces rencontres est de partager réflexions et expériences sur la manière de conjuguer aujourd’hui l’étude et la mise en valeur des patrimoines archéologiques et naturels.

Wetlands history field group
Le Groupe d'histoire des zones humides (GHZH) a le plaisir de vous convier à ses journées de terrain, les vendredi 15 et samedi 16 septembre 2017, consacrées à la découverte du lac de Grand-Lieu (Loire-Atlantique). Cette manifestation, organisée en partenariat avec la Maison du Lac, abordera l'histoire de la zone humide ainsi que ses enjeux de gestion et de protection. Souhaitant croiser les regards des sciences humaines et sociales avec les réalités techniques, économiques, sociales et écologiques des territoires, ces journées se structurent autour de conférences, de tables-rondes, de sorties sur le terrain et de rencontres d'acteurs impliqués dans la gestion et la protection du lac. Par ailleurs, une soirée mettra les milieux humides du Québec à l'honneur.

Climate and Societies in the Mediterranean during the Last Two Millennia
Current State Of Knowledge and Research Perspectives
This two-day international conference aims to highlight recent and challenging interdisciplinary studies dealing with complex historical climate/society interactions in Mediterranean during the last two millennia. The study of these existing connections can help in better understanding the role played by past climatic events in the eruption of regional conflicts, in forced migration and displacement of people, in periodically appearing infectious disease outbreaks or in subsistence crises like food shortages and famines Similarly, it seems necessary to identify and analyze socio-economic and technological responses (e.g. water supply systems) together with mitigation and general adaptation strategies, insofar as they existed, to cope with climate change.

Reflections on this theme have arisen from encounters relating to the film Songs for Madagascar, completed in 2016. Given the rich significance of the question of heritage, the main issues are how to keep alive and even continue to shape and transmit this legacy with its roots in the past and the present. Heritage requires continuous regeneration so that future generations can built on it and adapt it to the present without losing its identity
