  Dialogues épistémologiques

  Le séminaire d'échange bi-national Paris-Cambridge est une initiative pour faire dialoguer archéologues de Cambridge et de Paris. Ce séminaire vise à rapprocher deux traditions de pensée relativement séparées, notamment en Préhistoire. Chaque séance sera centrée sur un thème unique, autour duquel un chercheur de Cambridge et un chercheur de Paris dialogueront par des présentations en miroir. Ils apporteront un aperçu des tendances épistémologiques de la discipline, à l'appui de leurs propres travaux, et fourniront leur vision sur les orientations futures de la recherche sur les sociétés préhistoriques.

  Lascaux - seven years of research and observation

  Un colloque international, organisé par le ministère de la Culture et par la Commission nationale française pour l’UNESCO, se tiendra les 17 et 18 octobre 2017 à Paris à l’UNESCO. Il porte l’ambition de restituer sept années de recherches et de veille du conseil scientifique de la grotte de Lascaux. Il présentera la grotte de Lascaux au regard de sa valeur patrimoniale et des enjeux de préservation et de conservation.

  Constructing Kurgans

  Burial mounds and funerary customs in the Caucasus, Northwestern Iran and Eastern Anatolia during the Bronze and Iron Age

  The tradition of burying the dead in burial mounds (kurgans), usually consisting of a funerary chamber limited by stone or brickslabs and covered by dirt and gravel, started in the fourth millennium BCE in the northern Caucasus and then spread south to the rest of the Caucasus regions, eastern Anatolia and northwestern Iran during the Bronze Age and Iron Age. The spread of the kurgan tradition, as well as the territorial, political, social, and cultural values embedded in their construction and their symbolic relation to the surrounding landscape are under debate. The workshop aims to examine chronological issues, cultural dynamics at inter-regional scale, rituals and burial patterns related to these funerary structures. The beliefs and ideologies that possibly connected the "kurgan people" over such a wide geographical area, as well as past and present theoretical frameworks, will also be discussed.
