Biocosmos - Our sense of place, our sense of life in the universe
Planet scientists and exoplanet astronomers are re-shaping our understanding of the universe, presenting a fascinating cosmos filled with places and destinations, not an empty void. At the same time, Earth physicists and biologists design models of self-sustainable ecosystems such as Biosphere 2 and the Mars/Lunar Greenhouse, with the goal of engineering bio-regenerative mini-worlds that can function on their own. As these scientific revolutions unfold, with distant spaces and global life systems as objects of “field work”, what counts as the “human environment”? How do we, as individuals and societies, relate to spaces, things, and processes we do not or cannot experience directly and which we see as “extreme” or “beyond” human?

Academic days on open government and digital issues
Since 2011, experiences of member countries of OGP have shown that, although civil society is largely associated with the process of open governments, the academic community has not been adequately consulted. It is important to emphasize that the university community must be part of the open government process. The concept of “Academic Days” was never experienced in previous events of the OGP. By hosting this event with IMODEV and University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, has been organized the first time a scientific congress dedicated to issues of open government, and willing bring together academics - regardless their disciplines - to enable the discussion of these issues through a scientific approach.

Models, data and algorithms in and for governance
Computation, be it based on statistical modeling or newest techniques of predictive analytics, holds the promise to be able to anticipate and act infallibly on futures and uncertain situations more generally. That the future is an object of governmental knowledge and action is nothing new though. What is the characteristic of today’s relationship with futures in policy making and action? To what extent do the means of computation, from statistical models to learning algorithms employed in predictive analytics change this relationship, and the collective capacity and legitimacy to engage with future, uncertain situations? How do technologies of prediction change policies? Who predicts, how, and with what effects on decisions and administration and on their politics? More generally, how do ways of predicting institutionalize, fail to do so or change?

“La vie à l'oeuvre”: Life at work. New ecologies, bioart, biodesign
In view of the international conference co-organised by the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature (Museum of Hunting and Nature, Paris) and PSL Research University (Labex TransferS), this call for papers targets artists, designers, architects and researchers – both in social sciences and natural sciences –, who are engaged in interrogating how the living can be incorporated in art, design, as well as architecture projects. By displaying living beings and vital processes, or by collaborating with them, these explorations that put « life at work » contribute to the emergence of new ecologies, effectively or speculatively, as speculative design and critical design do.

Interventions on genomes - what does ethics have to say?
