ERC Advanced Grant MAP project (Mapping Ancient Polytheisms. Cult Epithets as an Interface between Religious Systems and Human Agency)
The ERC Advanced Grant MAP project (Mapping Ancient Polytheisms. Cult Epithets as an Interface between Religious Systems and Human Agency; 741182; http://map-polytheisms.huma-num.fr1) works on the naming systems for the divine in the Greek and Western Semitic worlds, from 1000 BCE to 400 CE and views them as testimonies to the way in which divine powers are constructed, arranged and involved within ritual. The analysis deals both with the structural aspects of the religious systems and with their contextual appropriation by social participants. Considered to be elements of a complex language, the onomastic channels are related to the gods, therefore providing access to a mapping process of the divine, to its ways of representation and to the communication strategies between men and gods.Within this framework, the MAP Team proposes a Summer School in collaboration with the French Research Centre in Jerusalem (http://www.crfj.org) which covers the project’s themes and tools.

Vocabulaire de la spatialité japonaise
Séminaire annuel du réseau scientifique thématique Japarchi
Le réseau scientifique thématique Japarchi s’est concentré sur la définition d’un ensemble de notions et de dispositifs fondamentaux de la culture spatiale du Japon ; ce travail fut matérialisé par la publication en 2014 du Vocabulaire de la spatialité japonaise. Le séminaire annuel Japarchi, qui va reprendre à l’automne 2018, souhaite s’inscrire dans la continuité de cette « encyclopédie ouverte » avec des interventions prenant appui et se concentrant sur un terme, une expression, un toponyme. Ces entrées thématiques concernent des dispositifs ou des agencements matériels, construits ou se déployant dans le territoire ; des notions ou des concepts relevant de l’architecture, de l’urbanisme ou du paysage ; des acteurs ou actrices qui agissent dans ou avec l’espace.

Contemporary Amman and the Right to the City
A city of four million inhabitants today, Amman’s expansion has become disproportionate to its urban history. Amman has experienced an impressive urban growth over the past fifty years, driven by forced migration and market laws. Developing from a small rural settlement at the end of the 19th century, Amman evolved into a regional crossroad at the end of the 20th century, and has become today a symbol for the consolidation of Hashemite rule, and as a result, the site of its contestation. Amman’s exceptional position among other regional capitals and its recent urban history has forced its inhabitants to create narratives concerning the city’s foundation, invent urban traditions, and negotiate ways of socialization.

Commencement, genèse et création dans l’art des XVe et XVIe siècles
Cette manifestation, ouverte gratuitement au grand public, souhaite interroger les multiples et diverses modalités de représentation des origines au sein des arts figuratifs à la Renaissance. Quelles sont les conditions d’émergence et d’existence d’un discours figuré sur les origines ? Y-a-t-il des thèmes, motifs ou figures qui invitent plus spécifiquement à une telle mise en scène ? Quelles sont les fins de la convocation de ces figures de l’origine ? Le colloque aura lieu au mois de juin 2018, à Tel Aviv puis à Paris, le temps de quatre journées et réunira une trentaine de spécialistes principalement français et israéliens.

Le développement de la cinéphilie et la promotion des cinémas français et locaux
La contribution des Instituts français et des Alliances françaises
Le rôle des salles de cinéma dans le développement de la cinéphilie est un domaine qui a fait l’objet d’un certain nombre de recherche. Parmi ces salles, un pan spécifique constitué par celles du réseau des établissements culturels français à l’étranger n’a pas été analysé. Pourtant, elles ont apporté et apportent toujours une contribution importante en matière de diffusion et de promotion. Si l’action culturelle extérieure française en général a été largement étudiée, l’action en matière de cinéma, quant à elle, a été négligée. L’ambition de ce colloque est de remédier à ce manque et de mettre en lumière cette contribution, dans le développement de la cinéphilie et dans la promotion des cinémas français et local, notamment dans l’encouragement de la jeune création et l’émergence de nouveaux talents.

The “circulation” of persons, groups, things and ideas, has obviously played a major role in shaping the evolution of the South Asian subcontinent since the ancient times up to the contemporary period.

Eurasian perspectives
Research since the 1990s, has witnessed not only the relaunch and expansion of the European constructions (Maastricht 1991, enlargements of 1995, 2004, 2007, 2013) as well as its hesitations (Brexit 2016+) but also a number of Asian and Eurasian successful initiatives : the Shanghai process (1996 as a group, 2001 as an organisation of 6 members, recently enlarged to 8), the Eurasian process (customs union, economic community, today Eurasian Economic Union with 5 members), and a number of other initiatives, among which the CICA, the Silk road One-Belt-One-Road, not to mention security organisations such as the CSTO and also cooperative associations (ASEAN, SAARC, …). These have added to the landscape formed already by the NATO, the EU, the OSCE, the Council of Europe, etc. Such a « proliferation » of regional (and almost pan-regional) frameworks for cooperation should create a strong incentive to facilitate « exchanges » across borders.

Les élites féminines dans l'espace francophone
Ce colloque, tout comme les actes qui suivront, visent à rendre compte des mécanismes complexes qui régissent les processus de stratifications sociales, en articulant trois dimensions analytiques qui relèvent à la fois de la Francophonie, du genre et du fait élitaire. L’enjeu est de rendre visible de la manière la plus empirique possible, les différentes manifestations de ce fait social dans des espaces sociaux (associatif, religieux, politique, économique, littéraire, etc.) où les femmes évoluent. Il est alors question de mettre en exergue les points de convergences, les variations et reconfigurations socio-historiques et politiques, ainsi que les lignes de fracture éventuelles dans l’espace francophone. En abordant la problématique de l’élite sous le double angle du genre et des enjeux géopolitiques et culturels francophones, notre démarche se situe au croisement de plusieurs champs disciplinaires des sciences humaines et sociales (sociologie, psychologie sociale, histoire, gestion-économie, science politique, droit, art et lettres, etc.).

Bourses de terrain en Asie du Sud-Est – 2018
L’Irasec met à concours chaque année deux bourses d’aide à la recherche sur le terrain. Ces bourses s’adressent en priorité à des doctorant·e·s et à des post-doctorant·e·s français ou étrangers (inscrits dans une université française pour les doctorant·e·s ou associé à un laboratoire de recherche français pour les post-doctorant·e·s) poursuivant des recherches sur l’Asie du Sud-Est contemporaine. Elles sont destinées à mener des enquêtes de terrain sur la thématique du doctorat, approfondir des recherches déjà engagées en thèse ou entamer un nouveau terrain post-doctoral. Les problématiques doivent apporter une perspective originale et novatrice sur l’Asie du Sud-Est, relevant des champs disciplinaires suivants : sciences politiques, sciences économiques, sciences sociales (anthropologie, sociologie, géographie, droit, histoire contemporaine).

What do we picture when we evoke India? For its 20 th annual Workshop, The “Association des jeunes études indiennes” (AJEI) invites young researchers to share their knowledge and to propose a critical approach of the concept of ‘Images’ in the subcontinent: To what extent do images reflect the many realities and representations of India and how does the Indian imagery affect scholarly, artistic and touristic as well as political perceptions, from a western and an Indian point of view? The Workshop is aimed to develop a cross-disciplinary dialogue in social sciences for a better understanding of the multiple roles that Images have been playing from antiquity to nowadays in the perceptions and the foundations of culture and identities in Indian society. The aim is also to open some reflexive discussions on the use and construction of images.

L’ICOM international committee for museology (ICOFOM) est heureux d’annoncer la tenue du XLIe symposium sur le thème : « La muséologie et le sacré ». Celui-ci aura lieu à Téhéran (Iran) du 15 au 19 octobre 2018. L’objectif de ce symposium est de discuter les liens entre muséologie et sacré, notamment à travers ce qui unit et ce qui différencie le musée du temple. Quatre plans d’analyse peuvent être envisagés : musée-temple-religion ; muséalité-patrimoine-sacré ; scientifique-politique-religieux ; muséologie-sacré-théologie.
