  Margins and interstices in the history of architecture (18th-21st century)

  Questionning the figure of architecture and its field of action

  La journée d’études proposée est le second volet d’une réflexion sur les marges en histoire de l’architecture, qui a déjà donné lieu à l’organisation d’une première journée d’études à l’Université de Tours. Conformément au désir initial du premier appel à communications et au caractère éminemment polysémique des termes « marge » et « interstice », les huit présentations de la première journée ont permis d’explorer plusieurs manières de concevoir, d’utiliser et de mettre en perspective ces notions ; ceci dans une chronologie élargie allant du XVIIIe au XXe siècle et souvent à la frontière – précisément – de plusieurs champs d’étude (architecture et photographie, paysage, philosophie, histoire, sociologie).

  Rethinking Music in France during the Baroque Era

  Since the 1974 publication of James Anthony's book French Baroque Music, research about the music that was performed and composed in France during the Baroque era has enriched its knowledge-base and investigative approaches. And yet, studies of French music have noticeably less visibility than those of German or Italian music. The 350th anniversary of François Couperin's birth in 2018 provides an opportunity for researchers and performers to re-evaluate previous work and reflect more broadly on research perspectives for the study of French music of the 17th and 18th centuries. In response to Couperin's Les Goûts réunis and Les Nations, these reflections will relate to a geographical perimeter that extends to international dialogue and will allow new avenues for advancing research to be revealed.
