  English journeys past and present, explorations of the condition of England

  The conference will address the following hypothesis: the illustration of a certain  way of being English, of a specific English way of inhabiting and making sense of the world, were given definition and cultural force through a series of writings which record the impressions of things seen in the course of a journey dedicated to the exploration of a territory, whether the land of England  in its national extension or the more local territory of a particular community. The organizers are calling for papers which will examine a corpus of writing  proposing a first-person observations of a condition of England at various moments in the history of a territory.

  The history of sport - post doctoral position at the University of Lausanne

  Réalisation d'une thèse de doctorat en sciences du sport, orientation histoire. Cette thèse sera réalisée dans le cadre du programme de recherche Fond national Suisse (FNS) « Les membres du Comité international olympique (CIO) de 1894 à 1972. Prosopographie d’une élite transnationale ». Affilié à l’équipe travaillant sur l’histoire du sport international au sein du Centre d’études olympiques et de la globalisation du sport (CEO&GS), le candidat concentrera ses recherches sur le rôle international du CIO durant la présidence de l’Americain Avery Brundage (1952-1972). Il participera et contribuera à la mise en œuvre du Data Management Plan du programme FNS.

  The World Cup, between Europe and the Americas

  Actors, implications and temporality of a sporting global event (20th-21st centuries)

  Le 14 juin 2018 sera donné le coup d'envoi de la 21e Coupe du monde de football de la FIFA en Russie. À l'heure où ce méga-événement sportif monopolisera l'attention médiatique, ce colloque entend permettre une meilleure compréhension de l'histoire de cette compétition en se focalisant sur un enjeu : son organisation. Rassemblant des chercheurs internationaux spécialistes d'éditions qui se sont déroulées en Europe et dans les Amériques (du Cône Sud aux États-Unis), l'événement entend valoriser une approche novatrice de la Coupe du monde, à la fois comparée et transnationale, et insister sur les relations - faites de rivalités et de coopération - entre les deux "continents du football".
