  Freedom of Speech: from Opacity to Transparency

  Contemporary societies value free speech and freedom of expression on the most personal – if not intimate – and sensitive issues. What happens to the right to remain silent and resisting the pressure? Qualitative surveys conducted through interviews are one of the most frequently used methods in the social sciences, if not the most used, and go far beyond simple and straightforward conversations. This research tool requires skill, subtlety and sensitivity, and one learns to a great extent from experience.

  Pour le premier appel à proposition, la revue en ligne La pensée écologique a décidé de mettre au cœur des réflexions les implications des limites planétaires. L’utilisation des ressources naturelles a subi une croissance rapide durant les dernières décennies. Cette augmentation a un tel impact sur l’environnement que l’humanité est devenue un puissant agent de déstabilisation dans le fonctionnement du système Terre (Steffen, Crutzen et McNeill 2007). Le résultat en est une dégradation rapide et à long terme des conditions d’habitabilité de la biosphère. Depuis une cinquantaine d’années, plusieurs concepts cherchent à quantifier cet impact croissant des activités humaines sur une planète finie.
