  Images in the memory, images in the mirror

  Roundtables, feedback on experience and workshop film projections

  Dans le cadre d'ateliers de cinéma portés par des réalisateurs professionnels, les participants (personnes détenues, jeunes mineurs sous main de justice, habitants des quartiers prioritaires) ont été amenés à s'approprier des images d'archives (fournies par l'Ina, le CNC, la BnF) pour réaliser leur propre court métrage, en vue de restituer des fragments de leur propre histoire à travers des écritures cinématographiques singulières. Au programme de cette journée : table ronde participative sur les enjeux et les « règles du jeu » du dispositif,- projections de films d'ateliers, témoignage des participants (personnes détenues, jeunes sous main de justice, habitants des quartiers prioritaires... qui seront exceptionnellement présents pour évoquer leurs œuvres), regards des ambassadeurs sur les films, exposition vidéographique.

  Small farmers in mountainous and forested hinterlands

  Contexts, constraints and strategies

  For centuries, small farmers (SFs) have made their living in the mountainous and forested areas of the Mediterranean hinterland, away from centres of power. These places have historically been places of refuge for the populations driven out from the plains. Nowadays, the SFs in the mountains and the forests, which have become more mixed and gradually more part of national entities, are paradoxically suffering from geographical remoteness and economic and social marginality. And yet, beyond the physical and the cultural environments’ diversity and the relationships forged with the urbanised foreland, these same communities are developing adaptive practices on the basis of specific features that continue to be sensitive to various kinds of risk and uncertainty that public policy is unable to diminish.

  Insularities and enclaves in colonial and post-colonial circumstances

  Crossings, conflicts and identitarian constructions (15th - 21st centuries)

  Historically, archipelagos were considered as rehearsal spaces for new social constructions. Since colonization and, afterwards, colonialism and imperialism, many of them evolved in association with the strengthening of international networks, while others did not escape isolation and forced unequal integration in different spaces. On the other hand, enclaves were the outcome of historical circumstances, often externally decided, which prompted some degree of insularity regarding the immediate geographical surroundings. When those territories did not become independent, there were demands for autonomy or, at least, some underlying emancipatory and anti-colonialist feelings. Even when these feelings did not mobilize relevant segments of the population, they disclose the alterity – above all cultural – in regard to sovereignty.

  Negotiating welcomes

  Migrants, refugees and host societies, in the modern and contemporary periods

  Qui peut-on accueillir et qui peut-on légitimement repousser ? Cette polémique a fait rage durant la « crise des migrants » telle que l’ont relayée bien des médias et des discours publics, en France comme en Allemagne et plus largement à travers toute l’Europe. Plusieurs logiques s’opposent en la matière : le devoir d’accueillir et de secourir les individus / groupes / peuples en détresse contre l’argument malthusien, largement répandu et souvent accepté, postulant que les ressources d’un territoire sont par nature limitées et que, mécaniquement, l’on ne saurait accueillir de façon trop ouverte sans mettre en danger les populations en place, celles données pour « originaires du pays ». S’y ajouterait l’idée que « l’identité » de la « nation » / du « peuple » / des « autochtones » serait menacée si les nouveaux venus sont trop nombreux et/ou trop « éloignés » ou trop « différents ». L’afflux d’individus porteurs de pratiques exogènes finirait par générer des formes de groupes institutionnellement et/ou culturellement encapsulés dans la société d’accueil.

  TaPRA Theatre, Performance and Philosophy Research Event

  In On Being Included, Sara Ahmed argues that institutional commitments to diversity may be considered “non-performatives”: they do not bring about what they name. Institutions run diversity workshops and committees, outreach programmes and ‘participatory’ or ‘inclusive’ agendas, but where does the gesture stop, and where does it begin? How may we understand the choreography and the dramaturgy of institutional outreaching? How can we begin to detour this language so as to rethink the role of the university – and of artistic practice – in public life today? Does the university have a role to play in public life, and what might that be? Does this equate with ‘outreach’? What is the relationship between artistic practice and what may be termed ‘creative research’?

  Ce cycle est consacré au sens donné par les organisations humaines à leurs héritages bâtis, dans l’histoire ancienne et récente, au moment même où les destructions violentes de certains d'entre eux témoignent de la fragilité universelle des cultures du monde : séismes d’Assise, de l’Aquila et d’Amatrice, destructions de Varsovie, de Dresde, d'Alep, de Palmyre, etc. Il interrogera la protection et les valeurs d'’avenir de ce patrimoine matériel dans le contexte du développement des techniques d'information, d'archivage et de représentation en 3D.
