  La présente rencontre, organisée par les Archives nationales et le Comité d’histoire de l’Institut national de la rechercher agronomique (INRA) et du Centre international de recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD), avec le concours du laboratoire d’études rurales de l’université Lyon 2 et de l’Académie d’agriculture de France, se propose de dresser un premier état des perspectives de recherche et de croisement des regards ouvertes par les archives dont Raymond Février, ancien directeur général de l'INRA, a fait don récemment aux Archives nationales.

  Le Rize accueille en résidence deux  jeunes chercheur·e·s inscrit·e·s en master 1 ou 2 de sciences humaines et sociales pour un stage indemnisés de quatre à six mois, entre janvier et juillet 2019. Le Rize est un équipement culturel original doté d’un pôle documentaire (il abrite les archives municipales de Villeurbanne et une médiathèque), d’un pôle d’action culturelle et pédagogique et d’un pôle scientifique. Il a pour ambition de stimuler et de favoriser la recherche, mais aussi et surtout de valoriser ses résultats, notamment par une diffusion auprès des publics sous la forme d’expositions, de manifestations et de publications.

  The European Industrial Heritage of the First World War

  The First World War marked the history of Europe. It has been characterized by an unprecedented effort in industrial production, which today constitutes a common European heritage. The industrial heritage of the First World War, however, seems to be invisible: it is not identified or even defined as such, whereas this war was characterized by the massive use of industrial technology, both in the field of the production of weapons, aircraft and chemicals for military purposes as well as in the civil sector, particularly for agri-food production. It is interesting to note that conversely, the industrial heritage of the Reconstruction could be the subject of work. The organization of a European symposium, the first on this theme, is essential in order to establish an inventory of the material traces that still exist today and to draw the attention of the public authorities to the need to ensure their conservation.

  Photography and design - comparative perspectives on the two industrial arts (1890-1980)

  Regards croisés sur deux arts industriels (1890-1980)

  Cette journée d’études vise à explorer l’histoire croisée de la photographie et du design, autrement dit la rencontre entre ces deux « arts » industriels qui ont à voir avec la série, le multiple et le reproductible depuis la seconde moitié du XIX^e siècle. Malgré un usage de plus en plus massif de la photographie dans le domaine du design au cours du XX^e siècle, voire une tyrannie du photographiable, le lien entre photographie et design a été peu historicisé. Si la photographie a pu être tour à tour un moyen d’enregistrement, de contrôle, de distanciation, d’exposition mais aussi de publicité du design, en quoi cet outil a-t-il également pu être un lieu d’expérimentation ?

  Conjugating modernity

  The architects Marcel Lods, Michel Roux-Spitz, and Jean Walter

  La modernité comme avènement de la raison instrumentale en architecture pose la question du rapport aux sciences, techniques et humanités tel qu’il a été historiquement construit ou activement recouvré, et tel qu’il acquiert une valeur au travers des discours, conceptions et réalisations des architectes à l’époque contemporaine. Appréhendé le plus souvent à l’ère industrielle comme un enjeu en soi ou comme catalyseur d’inventions (nouveaux objets, procédés/systèmes d’exploitation ou d’organisation) ce rapport interroge dans sa propension à se mouvoir en facteur principal d’innovation et à se constituer progressivement en valeur « expérimentale » ou patrimoniale intrinsèque à un grand nombre de réalisations. Un tel déplacement sémantique renvoie à des mutations réelles, architecturales et urbanistiques, aussi bien sur le plan théorique ou critique qu’en termes de mises en pratiques. Pour l’aborder, le colloque propose d’explorer différentes visions et écritures de la modernité architecturale et urbaine autour des productions de trois architectes – Marcel Lods (1891-1978), Michel Roux-Spitz (1888-1957), Jean Walter (1883-1957).
