  This edition is stamped by the 40 years anniversary of Cresson research team

  The objective of this winter school is to propose, over a week, a program both theoretical & practical on listening, research and design of the sound environment. In 2019, CRESSON, research team of “Ambiances, Architectures, Urbanities” laboratory, will celebrate its forty years of existence. This is the opportunity, to return to the elements that founded this team and which, today, continue to feed researches on sound ambiances.

  Architecture and risk - from contraints to opportunity

  À travers des échanges autour de la fabrique des territoires, cette journée d'étude a un double objectif : en premier questionner les potentialités de l’architecture à renseigner et à absorber les situations à risques  et par la suite, interroger les pratiques architecturales mises sous tension par la présence des risques. L’enjeu sera de permettre à la pratique architecturale de se positionner par rapport à cette thématique universelle des risques et à questionner par le biais d’une démarche réflexive la formation des futures architectes. Et ainsi sortir d’une approche techno-centrée des risques pour inclure ses autres dimensions socio-spatiales.

  The vocabulary of Japanese spatiality

  Annual seminar of the Japarchi network

  Le réseau scientifique thématique Japarchi s’est concentré sur la définition d’un ensemble de notions et de dispositifs fondamentaux de la culture spatiale du Japon ; ce travail fut matérialisé par la publication en 2014 du Vocabulaire de la spatialité japonaise. Le séminaire annuel Japarchi, qui va reprendre à l’automne 2018, souhaite s’inscrire dans la continuité de cette « encyclopédie ouverte » avec des interventions prenant appui et se concentrant sur un terme, une expression, un toponyme. Ces entrées thématiques concernent des dispositifs ou des agencements matériels, construits ou se déployant dans le territoire ; des notions ou des concepts relevant de l’architecture, de l’urbanisme ou du paysage ; des acteurs ou actrices qui agissent dans ou avec l’espace.

  Summer school on urban agriculture

  La X^e édition de l’école d’été sur l’agriculture urbaine est organisée par le Laboratoire d'agriculture urbaine (AU/LAB). Cet évènement réunit chaque année plus de 200 participants·es de l'ensemble du Québec et de la Francophonie pour cinq jours de formation intensive s’articulant autour d’un apprentissage à la fois théorique et pratique. Rassemblant des citoyens, des chercheurs, des étudiants et des acteurs de l’agriculture urbaine, cette école d’été a pour vocation de susciter des débats et des rencontres autour de l’agriculture urbaine. Cette année la thématique de l'école se fera sur le tiraillement entre les fonctions sociales, environnementales et économiques de l'agricultre urbaine et se posera la question : quel avenir pour l’agriculture dans la ville de demain ?

  Theme issue of the NPSS - New Perspectives in the Social Sciences

  Les textes proposés viseront à examiner la spécificité des liens réciproques mais non symétriques entre action et nature, entre nature et action : actions, réactions, rétroactions. La nature révèle notre société dans sa capacité/incapacité à agir, comme notre action révèle nos représentations de la nature. L’accent est mis sur l’action collective (législation préalable à l’action qu’elle encadre, gestion, planification, protection, stratégie, ingénierie, projet…) sans toutefois exclure l’action individuelle (actes, usages, pratiques, projets, anticipations…) à condition qu’elle révèle nos représentations de la nature et/ou qu’elle soit présentée comme découlant de facteurs d’ordre naturel. La nature comme l’action peuvent être abordées comme catégories analytiques ou philosophiques ou bien à travers des cas particuliers, localisés, remis en situation.

  New Spaces of Collection: Crossing Perspectives on Today ‘Gatherers’

  “EchoGéo” journal n°47 - January-March 2019

  The purpose of this issue of EchoGéo is to initiate an innovative approach toward contemporary practices of collection and their socio-spatial effects. The term ‘collection’ covers a wide panel of processes used for the gathering of valuable materials picked up from localised environments and feeding supra-local trading and production channels. The proposal is to compare two kinds of collection spaces and practices, which seem to be opposed, namely those of medicinal plants’ gatherers and those of urban waste pickers multi-scaled. Through such analogy, whose today’s dynamics are bringing new heuristic interest, the objective is to consider conceptual issues such as marginality, informality, multi-scaled organisation of economic channels, access to resources and value regimes
