  Suite à l’intérêt croissant pour l’étude des Bibles médiévales tardives, cette rencontre cherche à encourager une réflexion davantage transversale et synchronique que diachronique ou en fonction d’espaces culturels déterminés au Moyen Âge. Il s’agira de discuter en interdisciplinarité de ce qui peut être propre ou commun, de ce qui peut procéder d’un échange, d’un transfert culturel, d’un Zeitgeist.

  Asia and the Mediterranean world from the 4th millenium BC to the 5 century AD

  Cette rencontre a pour objectif de permettre à des doctorants et jeunes chercheurs d'échanger sur les notions de transport et de circulation terrestres, dans un espace géographique et chronologique large : de l’Orient au monde méditerranéen, du IVème millénaire avant notre ère au XVème siècle de notre ère. Cette approche transversale, spécifiquement voulue et développée pour cette journée d’étude, a pour objectif de rassembler les communicants autour des questions de méthode d’analyse tant archéologiques, qu’iconographiques ou philologiques.

  No country for anthropologists?

  Contemporary ethnographic research in the Middle East

  Many parts of the contemporary Middle East are confronted with war, sectarianism, transnational interferences, uprisings, and a comeback of authoritarian regimes. This brings about various difficulties for ethnographic research as a practice of knowledge production based on the immersion of researchers in given social contexts and the subsequent writing up and publishing of texts. The international conference No country for anthropologists? Contemporary ethnographic research in the Middle East explores the obstacles to do ethnography in the Middle East and take them as the starting point for reflection upon the role of anthropology with a view to the Middle East of today.
