  Considéré en son temps comme « l’agitateur le plus important du mouvement révolutionnaire radical » en Allemagne, le philosophe et activiste anarchiste Gustav Landauer (1870-1919) bénéficie aujourd’hui d’un vif regain d’intérêt. Un siècle après son assassinat, ce colloque international – le premier organisé en France à son propos – entend rendre compte de ce renouveau.

  L’Alsace et le tournant de 1918

  Expulsions, migrations, mobilités

  Ce colloque entend reconsidérer l’histoire de l’Alsace après 1918 à partir de recherches récentes sur son histoire migratoire, qui incluent l’expulsion des Allemands et des Alsaciens germanophiles, les migrations de travail, les déplacements frontaliers, l’accueil de réfugiés dans les années 1930. Ces phénomènes migratoires divers, à différentes échelles, dépassant souvent les frontières de la région comme de la France (puisqu’ils touchèrent le pays de Bade, la Lorraine, la Ruhr, la Belgique) contribuèrent tous à redéfinir la place de l’Alsace dans la Troisième République et ses nouveaux liens à l’espace allemand.

  Governance of the Universal Church after the Council of Trent – Two PhD positions - Max Planck Research Group

  The Max Planck Research Group III investigates the emergence and development of the system of post-Tridentine global governance of the Catholic Church in depth from an interdisciplinary perspective over an extended period of time. It will do so by analysing the activity of the Congregations of the Council, the dicastery responsible for appropriately implementing the Council decisions in the entire Catholic world.  We are now looking to recruit as soon as possible (but no later than 1 April 2019) two doctoral students who will develop a doctoral thesis preferably focused on the history of the Congregation of the Council in the early modern period (XVI-XVIII century).

  Cent ans de suffrage universel au Luxembourg

  L’année 2019 marquera le 100^e anniversaire de l’introduction du suffrage universel à Luxembourg. À cette occasion, la Chambre des Députés et le Musée national d’histoire et d’art (MNHA) vont présenter une grande exposition sur les antécédents historiques, la mise en place du suffrage universel en 1919 et les suites du processus de démocratisation de la société luxembourgeoise. Dans ce cadre, un colloque scientifique aura également lieu. Il portera aussi bien sur les origines de la discussion sur le suffrage universel et sur la lutte pour son introduction au grand-duché que sur sa mise en place dans les années 1917-1919 et ses effets dans les décennies suivantes.

  Philosophical Journal of Conflict and Violence / PJCV

  Reason and rational modes of thought are often seen as the bastion against the acceleration of conflict into violence and the goal of the Enlightenment tradition was, in a large part, to liberate individuals from those irrational superstitions and beliefs which were at the base of these conflicts. However, many critiques of the Enlightenment project, both historical and more contemporary, see the imposition of universal reason as itself a form violence, ignoring claims of comprehensive traditions, identity and history on the individual. The aim of this special edition of the Philosophical Journal of Conflict and Violence is to examine possible counter-enlightenment approaches to violence, conflict and conflict resolution.
