  Although French woman writer Colette was indifferent to and even critical of the feminist movement of the early 1900s, in the way she lived her life as in her fiction, she exemplified financial and social independence and shame-free sexuality, or what would be call today “gender fluidity”. This international conference will show how Colette represents a vibrant and radical expression of feminism in tune with the #MeToo spirit in today's society

  Il tema delle fake news è di grande attualità e rilevanza per i mezzi e i fini con cui queste vengono messe in circolazione: esse hanno il potere di alterare la realtà e di far circolare notizie prive di fondamento.Durante la giornata di studi si indagherà la modalità in cui l’alterazione del messaggio è stata assunta come verità nella storia dell’arte, ripercorrendo l’iter del processo artistico e la conseguente creazione delle fake news.

  Túnez y el Mediterráneo en la Edad Moderna: Identidades, conflictos y representaciones

  Homenaje a Slimane Mostafa Zbiss y Mikel de Epalza

  La historia y la geografía demuestran el importante rol que tuvo Túnez en el Mediterráneo y cómo esto influyó en la creación de su identidad. Su localización en el centro del Mare Nostrum le dio un papel importante, ya sea en periodos de paz o de guerra. En la Edad Media y el comienzo de los tiempos modernos, bajo los hafsíes, Túnez controlaba el comercio subsahariano con Europa y los bienes de los comerciantes del este con los mercados occidentales. Los hafsíes también mantuvieron buenas relaciones diplomáticas con Venecia y los reyes de Aragón... En tiempos de conflicto, en el siglo XVI, Túnez fue un lugar estratégico para los imperios otomano e hispánico.

  Conférence annuelle pour « postgraduates » du Réseau des études portuaires et maritimes

  Established in 2016, the International Postgraduate Port and Maritime Studies Network brings together postgraduates working on port and maritime studies across a wide range of chronologies and geographies. The network is supported by the Centre for Port and Maritime History, a collaborative venture between The University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University, and Merseyside Maritime Museum, which facilitates research on port cities and their relationship to maritime endeavour and enterprise. Our network is currently comprised of postgraduates from universities in the Basque Country, Crete, Hamburg and New South Wales, as well as from various institutions across the UK.

  Reason and rational modes of thought are often seen as the bastion against the acceleration of conflict into violence and the goal of the Enlightenment tradition was, in a large part, to liberate individuals from those irrational superstitions and beliefs which were at the base of these conflicts. However, many critiques of the Enlightenment project, both historical and more contemporary, see the imposition of universal reason as itself a form violence, ignoring claims of comprehensive traditions, identity and history on the individual. The aim of this special edition of the Philosophical Journal of Conflict and Violence is to examine possible counter-enlightenment approaches to violence, conflict and conflict resolution.

  Pensar los vínculos sociales en Iberoamérica. Lenguajes, experiencias y temporalidades (siglo XVI-XXI)

  Desde la época de la Conquista y la colonización hasta nuestros días, los vínculos sociales han sido extremadamente intensos, complejos y conflictivos en Iberoamérica. Se puede explorar el lenguaje social de la solidaridad y de la desunión, así como la manera en que desde finales del siglo XIX las ciencias sociales y la psicología social oscilaron entre discursos, encuestas y conceptualización en un intento siempre renovado para dar cuenta de las especificidades, patologías y acomodaciones de sociedades cada vez más diversificadas. Como parte sustancial del vínculo social, la memoria colectiva puede estudiarse desde una perspectiva historiográfica que explore la diversidad de sus motivos y manifestaciones durante los últimos cinco siglos.
