  Gender Dynamics and Practices in Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape Architecture

  In France, as in several other countries, the professions of architect, urban planner and landscape architect have crossed a historic threshold in terms of feminization. However, numerical parity does not mean men and women have equal professional opportunities: numerous demands of feminist associations remain unsatisfied. They note the persistence of many professional inequalities: in terms of income, in terms of financial control and job insecurity, in terms of visibility, and in terms of recognition. This call for papers aims to gather contributions for an assessment of the gains and limits of feminization and gender dynamics at work in the professional worlds of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture in France, fifty years after the "massive" entry of women into architecture schools in 1968.

  Call for papers - Sociology

  Thinking - Making. Perspectives on the growing prominence of making in architecture

  This conference explores the growing prominence of making in architecture, as manifested by architects who engage more directly in building practices, dealing more closely with materials and techniques. The colloquium proposes to investigate a diverse set of cases where making is re-evaluated and celebrated. It calls for papers along three lines of inquiry: historical and theoretical perspectives on the evolution of the relationship between thinking and making, and its consequences in architecture, case studies that assess the motivations and values of actors involved in making in the field of architecture, investigations into the means and tools that aim at a closer relationship between designers, materials and built forms.

  "New players" and the evolution of urban modes of production - post-doc

  "Planning Grand Paris" chair. Lab'Urba: renewing expertise on uses in calls for innovative projects

  Le post-doctorat proposé par la chaire « Aménager le Grand Paris » et le Lab'Urba s’interroge sur les modalités et sur les conséquences du renouvellement des expertises sur les usages dans le cadre des dispositifs d’appels à projets (urbains) innovants (API) et, au-delà, dans les opérations d’aménagement dans le Grand Paris. L’une des conséquences de ces API est l’émergence de « nouveaux entrants » dans le champ professionnel du projet urbain, tels que les spécialistes des usages et les opérateurs de service. Le projet de post-doctorat devra contribuer à la connaissance de ces « nouveaux entrants » et à l’analyse de leur rôle, tout en évaluant les implications sociopolitiques de leur émergence. Il s’agira donc de concilier une approche empirique capable d’éclairer leurs pratiques et leurs trajectoires et une analyse des effets des procédures instituées par les appels à projets.

  Revue « SociologieS »

  Ce dossier sur la sociologie de l’architecture s’inscrit dans le sillage de travaux sociologiques sur la profession d’architecte et sur l’architecture, structurés dès les années 1970. L’organisation de la profession, du travail, des compétences et des vicissitudes identitaires brossent un ensemble de portraits et de systèmes d’acteurs, utile pour appréhender le groupe professionnel et ses activités dans son hétérogénéité. Qu’en est-il en 2018, à l’heure d’une recomposition des rôles des architectes dans la chaîne de production et de leur confrontation aux enjeux des changements globaux (climatiques, démographiques, économiques) et de la mondialisation des services ? Vers quelles sociologies s’oriente-t-on pour discuter d’architecture ?
