  PeClA 2019 is a two‐day conference in Classical Archaeology and Classics aimed at postgraduate / doctoral students traditionally offering a space for presenting research results, discussion, and an exchange of ideas, in a friendly and supportive environment. This year, we focus on the roots of the Classical Archaeology, and for this reason the main theme of the conference is Visual Culture in the Classical World.

  The Thursdays of art

  Le cycle de conférence annuelle des jeudis de l'art organisé par le département d'histoire de l'art de l'Institut catholique de Paris reprend en 2019-2020. Le thème retenu cette année est « Arts et sciences ». Dans le cadre des cursus de licence et de master de la faculté des lettres, ces rencontres régulières veulent apporter un complément aux enseignements généraux en abordant des sujets plus spécifiques, et créer un lieu d’échanges interdisciplinaires entre étudiants, enseignants et public extérieur. C’est aussi l’occasion pour les chercheurs de donner un aperçu de leurs travaux tout en initiant les étudiants à la recherche scientifique.

  Caging the sky: art, history and anthropology of aviaries

  Deeply rooted in the long history of technology, architectural construction, and the domestication and acclimatisation of animal species by humans, aviaries are an interdisciplinary research subject offering multiple approaches for studying both past and present bonds, connecting societies to their environment, to explore the place of birds in the collective imaginary, but also to appreciate the originality of works or constructions that were conceived in order to  represent, signify or house animal life. They make a spectacle of the flight of birds for the external observer and tend to celebrate the captivity of animals as a state of “semi-freedom”.

  L’École des arts joailliers, avec le soutien de Van Cleef & Arpels, créé quatre bourses annuelles d’études destinées à des étudiants inscrits à l’université en master recherche, sur un sujet en lien avec la joaillerie. Les étudiants doivent être inscrits en histoire de l’art ou en gemmologie. Ce soutien financier à la recherche sur la joaillerie s’inscrit dans les missions de L’École des arts joailliers, qui œuvre non seulement à la diffusion mais aussi à la construction du savoir joaillier.

  Dans le cadre du programme de recherche d'intérêt régional « Recherche en Images : Tours Archéologique », un poste d'ingénieur d'étude est à pourvoir pour 1 an (renouvelable) à l'UMR 7324 CITERES–Laboratoire Archéologie et Territoires, à partir du 1er mars 2019. La mission principale est de développer une plateforme permettant la mise en ligne d'un corpus d'images patrimoniales d'archéologie.
