Cette journée d’études abordera les innovations existantes au sein de l’espace urbain autour de la notion de « villes créatives ». Elle a pour objet de mettre en lumière l’importance des démarches artistiquesnet culturelles dans la construction et l’appréhension de l’espace public. Elle questionnera les rôles des différents acteurs – institutionnels, publics, privés, associatifs, etc. – et des habitants. Elle interrogera les processus de l’innovation territoriale et des transitions, comme la notion de « tiers-lieux ». Il s’agit de confronter différents regards sur la construction et l’évolution des villes en réfléchissant au potentiel créatif de l’art et dudesign et de leur capacité à produire des méthodologies innovantes au croisement d’autres disciplines, en particulier les sciences humaines et sociales, et en interaction avec des acteurs locaux.

The COVID-19 lockdown deprived citizens around the world of their mobility. This experience has inspired many citizens to rethink their mobility, to describe it less in terms of quantity – the speed and distance of their journeys – and more in terms of quality and freedom. The Urban Mobilities online publication will be advocating for a post-COVID urban mobility that is pluralistic and benefits all walks of life. It will do so by showcasing projects that question and challenge conventional mobility and its negociation in the public space.

Ce numéro spécial de la revue Staps considera avec attention les propositions portant sur l’analyse réflechie et critique des politiques et programmes mis en œuvre pour le passage de la transition écologique au développement durable du sport, notamment les caractéristiques de la philosophie du développement durable du sport à l’occasion des évènements compétitifs et les alternatives non compétitives. Seront aussi considérées les propositions sur les pratiques et les innovations du sport durable, qui à la différence du développement durable du sport, proposent d’autres modes de pratiques, milieux, techniques et rythmes : marche nordique, slow sport, plogging, longe côte, nomadisme, vélo, trotinette, etc. Le numéro accueillera des propositions sur les esthetiques de l’existence avec les pratiques durables des mouvements corporels comme le naturisme, le flow, le véganisme, le recyclage, les pratiques d’éveil et d’immersion...

Participatory budgeting in 2020: participation without democracy?
Since the 2010s, participatory budgeting processes have not been the subject of many updated empirical studies, despite their multiplication. The present call invites to highlight and put into perspective the specificities of the most recent participatory budgets; in particular since 2014 in France, and more generally since the years 2010. We aim to gather papers that will allow us to renew the understanding of case studies, and the related general questions about the objectives of the organizers, the effects on participants, on public policies and democracy.

Le concept de mobilisation a longtemps été surdéterminé par son rapport au politique, tout particulièrement dans la perspective de la « structure des opportunités politiques » (Tarrow, 1990), comme si toute forme de résistance ne pouvait se positionner que par rapport au pouvoir en place et en fonction de lui. La mobilisation soignante contre le COVID 19 a rappelé pourtant qu’il existe tout un champ de pratiques en apparence consensuelles, mais porteuses de dimensions égalitaires et émancipatrices (ou au contraire conservatrices), dont la portée politique n’est ni un préalable, ni une conséquence inéluctable. Ces pratiques participent d’une définition ouverte des mobilisations et du mouvement social, dans la mesure où elles sont collectives, largement intentionnelles et portées vers le changement social, entendu ici comme pratique de subversion (partielle) d’un rapport social de domination. Elles se rapportent aux mœurs et aux formes de vie partiellement autonomes par rapport au champ politique, en tout cas elles ne se positionnent pas hic et nunc par rapport au politique – elles sont discrètes. Mais comment une mobilisation peut-elle être discrète ?

Entre une société dont le rythme des mutations et changements semblent s’accélérer et des quartiers « politique de la ville » sujets à des évolutions sociales et urbaines parfois intenses, quels sont les nouveaux enjeux qui se posent au regard de la jeunesse ? Il nous semble primordial de poser la question de la jeunesse dans une perspective « d’état des lieux » au sens large afin de mieux comprendre les problématiques et les évolutions que cette partie de la population des quartiers rencontre.

Labour and Migration in the Age of Borders
The recent focus in politics and the media on the “migration crisis” and the rise of populisms in Europe is an invitation to interrogate migrations in the light of geopolitical, ethical or identity approaches. With this thematic issue we wish to complement, not contradict, these approaches by reintroducing the economic dimension of migration through a study of the multiple forms of work and labor; and address the entanglements between migration policy and work. This special issue asks the following question: what can we learn from the exploration of migrant labor in an age of advanced capitalism and border consolidation? It will look at the relation between migratory statuses, legal and professional situations, under a juridical and socio-economic perspective: at the articulation of power relations within forms of migrant labor; at the impact of processes of borderization on the various worlds of labor; at the forms of resistance to exploitation and subjugation of migrant workers or employees working with migrants. These multiple forms of action at the margins indicate that rather than being depoliticized, labor — and especially labor as it is transformed by migration — remains today a privileged site for understanding the political effects of greater flexibility when it comes to working conditions, the denial of recognition for workers and the hidden face of authoritarian capitalism.

Urgent issue of The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge
This special issue, Tilting, seeks to take up themes that have animated the Blackwood’s program and mandate throughout the last several years: questions of connectivity, the challenges of public and private space, community and/in isolation; imperatives to re-structure modes and methodologies of care, including revaluing care work, confronting collective care responsibilities within colonial and capitalist structures, and engaging with the infrastructures, aesthetics, contestations, and radical possibilities of mutual aid; responses to the precarization of art, labour, and life; interest in what modes of knowledge production, circulation, and re-distribution are vital to us now, and how these networks might take new form. These urgencies continue to drive Blackwood programming (and this forthcoming publication), supporting and activating artists, curators, and writers who incite us to be responsive, critical, and answerable.

Sans doute bien différemment, dès aujourd’hui, et plus encore demain, compte tenu des fragilités de longue date du monde méditerranéen. Changer nos modes de vie ? Telle est la question qui servira de fil conducteur au cours des six séances de notre atelier de recherche, en 2020.

9th Sino-European conference in tourism
Le tourisme a été jusqu’à la fin du XXe siècle une pratique essentiellement occidentale. De ce fait, la rencontre avec les populations autochtones a été largement abordée à travers le concept d’acculturation. Cette approche a d’autant plus convenu que la diffusion des touristes a été en grande partie orchestrée par le déploiement de l’appareil de production capitaliste et s’est construite dans les contextes du colonialisme et du néocolonialisme. Ainsi, George Cazes a sous-titré le second volume de l’ouvrage tiré de sa thèse consacrée au tourisme dans les pays du Tiers Monde : « Les nouvelles colonies de vacances » (1992). La métaphore traduit l’approche dominante de l’époque. En effet, le tourisme s’inscrit dans un rapport entre le centre et ses périphéries, engendrant l’intégration des pratiques dans un processus de domination et d’expansion symbolique et matérielle des sociétés occidentales.

Transition, territories and actors
Pour cette journée, nous souhaitons aborder les transformations sociales et territoriales en cours, ou en devenir, dans le contexte du changement climatique à travers le concept récent de « transition ». Nous vous invitons à interroger les actions concrètes sur les territoires, menées par différents acteurs (citoyens, société civile, acteurs publics), qui s’inscrivent dans des dynamiques de transitions - même si ces transitions peuvent être définies par ces acteurs de manière parfois différente (voire même contradictoire). Nous proposons donc de questionner les politiques et actions de ces acteurs et leurs effets sur les territoires à travers trois axes. Ils constituent chacun une entrée, non exclusive, pour traiter de ces enjeux. Loin de s’enfermer derrière un type d’acteur, il s’agira de questionner les relations complémentaires ou contradictoires qu’ils ont entre eux, et les effets des actions entreprises sur la définition même de la transition.

LGBTI and Queer Arts, Cultures and Activisms
In France, a few years after the law authorizing same-sex marriage, LGBTQ associations are now facing new struggles, fighting for access to assisted procreation or the creation of a communal archive center. Drawing on these dynamics, this conference aims at interrogating the bonds between LGBTQ forms of arts, cultures and activisms. We look forward to opening a space for academics and grassroots activists, whether they be engaged in institutional collectives or not, to exchange, reflect and dialogue. LGBTQ-related topics appear to be often overlooked in French research networks. We aim to make it more visible and richer, and make it dialogue with local, national and international networks of academics and activists.

KISMIF Conference 2020
We are pleased to announce the fifth KISMIF International Conference ‘Keep It Simple, Make It Fast! DIY Cultures and Global Challenges’ (KISMIF Conference 2020) which will take place in Porto, Portugal, between 8 July and 11 July 2020. The submission of abstracts for this conference is open to academic researchers working in all areas of sociology, anthropology, history, cultural economics, cultural studies, geography, philosophy, urban planning, media, and cognate disciplines, such as design, illustration, popular music, cinema, visual and performing arts. This initiative follows the great success of the past four KISMIF Conferences (held in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018) and brings together an international community of researchers focusing on underground music scenes and do-it-yourself cultures.

The Keep It Simple, Make It Fast! (KISMIF) Conference 2020 will be preceded by a Summer School entitled ‘Not Just Holidays in the Sun’ on 7 July 2020 in Rivoli Municipal Theatre of Porto. The Summer School will offer an opportunity for all interested persons, including those participating in the Conference, to attend workshops directed by specialists in their fields. Our KISMIF Summer School program invites students who are interested in, or currently using, DIY cultures in their research to join us for an exciting and innovative one-day summer school program. The goal of the one-day program will be to encourage discussion and experimentation in the documentation of DIY cultures as much as it will be to encourage a new generation of DIY academics (Punk Ethnographers!) to experiment with digital cinema and performance in their research practices.

The Public Sphere and the Politics of Space
With the gradual rise of socio-economic and political challenges facing the Middle East and North African (MENA) and the Sub-Saharan regions, the “public space” and the “public sphere” have come to the forefront of scholarly debates and research by scholars in various fields of studies. The concept of the “public sphere” was conceived as part of the interplay of first a physical locale that imply constant social relationships in a concrete public domain (public space) and second the constellations of socio-economic factors contributing to the rise of political debates (public sphere). The aim of this conference is to probe social, economic, political problems via the theoretical lenses of the public sphere, the different aspects of spatial configurations, the politics of space, as well as the counter-public or parallel discursive arenas as conceived by Nancy Fraser.

L'école inclusive semble être le nouveau horizon des sociétés démocratiques, dans un contexte de promotion des « relations horizontales » et d'accessibilité généralisée : pourtant, il est important de souligner que dire n'est pas faire. Derrière les idéologies et les récits, concrètement, comment se matérialise le discours inclusif dans l'école, la société et le territoire ? Quelle traduction institutionnelle de la dialectique école inclusive, handicap et territoires ? Les réflexions peuvent également intégrer un axe socio-anthropologique, se concentrer sur les référents axiologiques de l'inclusion, les imaginaires, les symboles, participant d'un renouvellement d'un rapport à l'autre dans la société occidentale, ou simple avatar de la médicalisation des comportements sociaux jugés comme problématiques ?

Espaces et sociétés Journal
Dans ce numéro d'Espaces et Sociétés, nous souhaitons analyser la dimension spatiale des obstacles et des stratégies visant à empêcher la mobilisation des classes populaires, que ce soit avant ou après que celle-ci prenne forme. La notion de démobilisation permet d’interroger de concert les pratiques qui contraignent ou empêchent l’émergence de l’action collective et les formes symboliques et matérielles visant à entraver et réprimer les mobilisations. On peut penser par exemple, d’un côté, aux stratégies de stigmatisation ou de délégitimation, aux pratiques paternalistes, clientélistes ou de cooptation ou, de l’autre, aux modes de répression, directs ou indirects, policiers ou judiciaires.
