Cette journée d’études abordera les innovations existantes au sein de l’espace urbain autour de la notion de « villes créatives ». Elle a pour objet de mettre en lumière l’importance des démarches artistiquesnet culturelles dans la construction et l’appréhension de l’espace public. Elle questionnera les rôles des différents acteurs – institutionnels, publics, privés, associatifs, etc. – et des habitants. Elle interrogera les processus de l’innovation territoriale et des transitions, comme la notion de « tiers-lieux ». Il s’agit de confronter différents regards sur la construction et l’évolution des villes en réfléchissant au potentiel créatif de l’art et dudesign et de leur capacité à produire des méthodologies innovantes au croisement d’autres disciplines, en particulier les sciences humaines et sociales, et en interaction avec des acteurs locaux.

Intersections between the system of production and the cultural system
FORMA has gone out with a new call for papers for an introductory issue in what will be a five year project exploring the intersection between the system of production and the cultural system. Accepting papers that investigate this subject from a wide array of perspectives, from biopolitics and bioethics, to technology, ecology, education, (geo)political conflicts, and more, this aims to be an interdisciplinary, comparative issue with a focus on the humanities understood broadly.

À l’heure de la transition écologique, le monde de l’architecture est traversé par beaucoup d’interrogations et de remises en cause. L’incertitude amène à trouver des parades souvent un peu rapides et de court terme. L’une d’elles réside dans l’importance prise par l’hyperspécialisation programmatique dans les concours d’architecture (tant publics que privés) et la fétichisation du programme qui déshumanise la commande en la réduisant à des tableaux surfaciques. Cet hyperprogramme, dernier avatar en date du fonctionnalisme hérité du Mouvement moderne, peut‐être questionné et pose en filigrane la question du rôle de l’architecte. Cependant, au‐delà de la figure de l’architecte, il paraît nécessaire de s’interroger sur l’architecture elle‐même. Comment peut‐on aborder d’un point de vue théorique, mais aussi pratique l’autonomie de l’architecture ? Ne serait‐elle que la transcription volumétrique de fonctions préalablement identifiées et quantifiées ? Ou alors devons‐nous rechercher l’écart entre fonction et forme pour favoriser son évolution et sa transformation ?

The role of art in and towards sustainable changes
While the sociology of arts and culture has long dealt with classical sociological questions of artistic production, distribution and reception, the concern for ecological issues and sustainability has only recently been taken up. On the one hand, the artistic field is an economy and an industry like any other, where the use of natural and human resources leads to questions of inequality, access and power relations. On the other hand, it represents a particular case, as intertwined with the issues of sustainability are those of artistic meaning, reception and cultural practices, and social factors different than in other fields. What is the environmental and social impact of art? Can art be sustainable, both ecologically and socially through time, and how? What can we make of the sustainability of art that is made to last long – sculpture, painting, print, recorded production – as well as of the required preservations techniques and places? And, on the other hand, what is the place of ephemeral art when considering sustainability (in all its aspects): street art, graffiti, art installations, live music and theatre? How can art support transformations towards more sustainable societies? A change in individual and collective practices is needed to achieve the SDGs. What role can or do art and artists play in these transformations? Can artists contribute to shaping alternative paths?

« Métropole sensible » est un cycle de symposiums annuel lancé en 2013 par le laboratoire de sociologie LERSEM-IRSA de l’université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3. Conçu comme un espace de réflexion et de débat autour de la ville et ses dimensions imaginaires et sensibles, il est réalisé à travers des symposiums à vocation internationale et interdisciplinaire avec l’objectif de capter les évolutions des ambiances urbaines en mettant l’accent, sur l’approche du sensible, la méthode visuelle, la prise en compte du numérique dans la transformation urbaine.

Call for applications 2019-2020 for a Cifre doctoral student
Dans le cadre de sa mission de « soutien et de diffusion de travaux de recherche académique sur le jeu de société », Game In Lab accueillera des doctorats portant sur une ou plusieurs de ses thématiques de recherche détaillée (voir plus de détail par la suite). Le doctorat sera mené dans le cadre d'une convention Cifre en CDD pour une durée de trois ans. Le candidat rejoindra l'équipe de Game in Lab pour participer à l'animation et au développement du projet dans le cadre de ses missions en entreprise. Au moment de la candidature, le projet du candidat aura reçu l'avis favorable d'un directeur de thèse rattaché à une école doctorale ainsi qu'une acceptation formelle de la dite école.
