The Multidisciplinary Grid 2020 Conference
The conference is aimed at examining the ‘grid’ as a cross-disciplinary theme with a multiplicity of expressions in terms of definitions, concepts, perceptions, representations, and histories. The ‘grid’ has played a significant role in shaping the spatial imaginaries of a wide range of fields: from Hippodamus of Miletus to the Cartesian revolution in mathematics, from the visual arts to archaeology to 'smart cities' and artificial intelligence. As the 'grid' has become an all-encompassing term, signifying a vast array of infrastructural and communication networks through which contemporary life is mediated and controlled, it is commonly viewed as a quintessential symbol of modernity. The conference strives to explore a new horizon of relationships and fusion of the ‘grids’ in these areas as manifested between humans, between machines, and between humans and machines ‒ bridging philosophical, cultural, pedagogical, technical and ethical issues.

The Measurement of Images: Computational Approaches in the History and Theory of the Arts
Ce colloque #dhnord réunira pour la première fois en France les principaux spécialistes de l’intelligence artificielle appliquée aux arts. Il permettra d’explorer la manière dont les méthodes computationnelles renouvellent les questions traditionnelles de l’histoire des arts, de l’esthétique et des cultures visuelles (processus de création, style, forme, attribution, iconologie, circulation des œuvres, etc.) et suscitent des questions de recherche inédites pour nos disciplines (arts visuels, architecture, théâtre, cinéma, photographie…) à l’heure où de nouveaux outils disponibles pour les chercheurs apparaissent.

Pour la cinquième année consécutive et dans le cadre du master d'histoire, parcours « Bibliothèques, archives, médiation de l'histoire et humanités numériques », un atelier professionnel Visual Studies est organisé sur le thème suivant : « Partager les livres et les archives : collaborations, associations, mutualisation ». Il s'agira de s'interroger sur les transformations liées à la valorisation des collections des centres documentaires ces dernières années, de la place des espaces virtuels dans ces échanges et de la mise en place de nouvelles formes de mutualisations de compétences et de ressources des différentes institutions présentes pour cette journée. L'atelier, orienté sur les Visual Studies, s'intéressera à ces questions du point de vue des archives sonores et audiovisuelles, des livres d'art et des images d'archives sur l'aire méditerranéenne.

5th International "Language and Territory" Colloquium
This multidisciplinary colloquium will discuss the different ways that languages and territories are linked, and will show the political, social and economic stakes that arise from the relationships between them. Above all, these terms refer to men and women with their social practices and representations, at the core of the logic of territoriality. New territories give rise to new language practices, which, in turn, create new spaces, discourse and meaning. The "boundaries" we draw between languages and territories are permeable in time and space, depending on factors such as population displacement, language policies, linguistic and social representations, education, mass media and socio-cultural values.

The digital humanities: new narratives in art history?
Depuis une dizaine d’années, l’histoire de l’art a peu à peu (mais encore difficilement) adopté les humanités numériques. Or celles-ci sont un défi à la discipline qu’elles risquent de profondément renouveler : à la fois dans l’étude des objets traditionnels de l’histoire de l’art (qu’il s’agisse d’images ou de textes), dans la constitution des métadonnées, dans l’exploitation des données et dans les différentes formes de visualisation ou la médiation de celles-ci, notamment avec l’ouverture des données et des contenus culturels (open data). Ce numéro de la revue Histoire de l’art souhaite questionner les changements opérés par les humanités numériques, et voir s’il peut aller jusqu’à observer une révolution épistémologique.

Le Bucema, bulletin du Centre d’études médiévales d’Auxerre, est une revue scientifique à comité de lecture consacrée aux études sur le Moyen Âge. Fidèle à son principe de diffusion de la recherche en train de se faire et librement accessible, le Bucema continue à mettre l’accent sur l’interdisciplinarité ‐sciences humaines et sociales, sciences de la nature et mathématiques‐, comme le meilleur moyen d’inventer une nouvelle médiévistique. Il est particulièrement intéressé par les contributions proposant des nouvelles méthodes, faisant état d’expériences dans le domaine des humanités numériques (digital humanities) et des nouvelles technologies, s’interrogeant sur les implications épistémologiques et conceptuelles des recherches sur le Moyen Âge.

Session at The Renaissance Society of America Annual Meeting 2021
This panel aims to bring together coordinators of digital projects - completed or in progress - around the lexicon and the scientific edition of texts of artistic or technical literature, with researchers who have adopted this terminological approach to analyze in an innovative way well known or unpublished texts, related to the production, the practice of the arts and interpretative theories derived from practice and which marked the history of taste. The papers will aim to provoke discussions about the method, contributions and perspectives of the lexicographic approach in the artistic field, in an interdisciplinary logic, in order to federate language historians, digital humanities specialists and art historians.

The circulation, distribution, and reproduction of images and texts in periodicals at the turn of the century (1870-1930)
La fin du XIXe siècle peut être considérée comme l’achèvement d’un ensemble de processus de systématisation et de rationalisation des techniques de production et de diffusion de l’imprimé : au niveau technique, la mise au point des procédés de reproduction photomécanique rendant possible la reproduction à faible coût et sans perte d’information des images et des textes ; au niveau rhétorique, le journalisme valorise des formes simples, directes, qui augmentent l’efficacité communicationnelle. La question que souhaite soulever ce colloque est celle de la pertinence de l’application de la notion de viralité à la culture (et plus particulièrement la culture de la presse) au tournant des XIXe et XXe siècles.

Intersections. New perspectives for public humanities
HFC-INT 2020
The international network Humanities for Change, in accordance with the interdisciplinary spirit and the contaminatory approach that characterize its activities, intends to organize a day of study on the theme of public humanities. The meeting aims to stimulate some reflections coming from different fields of knowledge and to encourage the dialogue between researchers on the possibilities of the humanities to escape from academic circles. In this sense, the main object of study is the analysis of methodologies and tools related to knowledge dissemination practices for historical, artistic and philological-literary disciplines. Particular attention will also be given to new professional figures connected to the degree courses of the humanities faculties (such as the 'public historian') and to the interactions of these professional figures with the new media of communication and mass dissemination.

ddh20 : Data and Digital Humanities 2020
The digital humanities offer a particularly rich research field of studies for data processing, apart from those of the hard sciences and the social sciences. Indeed, the humanities are rarely subject to privacy principles (privacy by design, GDPR…) that affect most social science works and are not just about digital or binary data. Moreover, in DH the data pre-exist and are most often already known if they are not collected and formalized. In this specific context, we propose in this track to question the practices resulting from the constitution of corpus and uses of data in humanities.

The journal is interested in anything related to languages, translation, culture, and multilingual communication.
