The ERC MAP Seminar “The Names of the Gods! 5: Who named the gods? Utterers, addressers, ritual agents” pursues the investigation on the systems of naming of the divine. This year, it focuses on the human agents in the process of naming the divine, whether they are producers of a discourse on the deities, addressers in a communication with the deities, or even experts in charge of a ritual knowledge. What agency do men and women exercise in the production of a specific denomination of the divine? How can we question their choices, their anchoring in a tradition or their innovation strategies?

Transformation d’un modèle économique et d’occupation en Italie centrale de l’Antiquité tardive au Moyen Âge
Le webinar est consacré aux dernières phases résidentielles des villas de l’Antiquité tardive et sur les phases d’occupation postérieures de réutilisation et de réemploi de ces sites présents dans les régions de Toscane, des Marches, de l’Ombrie, des Abruzzes, du Molise et du Latium. Il s'agit de présenter et de discuter de l'état des connaissances sur les villas de l'Antiquité tardive (IVe-VIIe siècle après J.-C.) dans les régions susmentionnées, avec des communications allant de l’étude de cas à la synthèse régionale, afin de vérifier le « maintien » des modèles interprétatifs du phénomène d’occupation des villas durant l’Antiquité tardive.

Ce site web est la restitution des travaux des contributeurs bénévoles qui ont participé à la transcription et à l’encodage au format informatique TEI des testaments, via la plateforme de transcription collaborative mise en ligne en janvier 2021.

Imagining the Future of Multilingualism
Education and Society at a Turning Point
Since 2008, the Conseil Européen pour les Langues / European Language Council (CEL/ELC) has hosted a Forum every two years. These Fora seek to bring together representatives of higher education institutions, of European institutions and organisations, such as, for example, the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the Council of Europe, and of European associations like the European University Association (EUA) as well as scholars with a special interest in European integration, policy development, and multilingualism. At the centre of 2020 discussions will be the role that Higher Education can and should play in the promotion and development of multilingualism as a key aspect of European cooperation – related to facets such as language policy, internationalisation, language and knowledge, education and mobility, to mention just a few. In this context, participants will also reflect on the future role of the CEL/ELC by identifying and analysing new challenges that have arisen in our changing world.

2020 marque le lancement de la première de la quatrième édition de l’école de recherche CORMED. Chaque journée de rencontre-formation comptera des sessions communes numériques organisées alternativement par un des pays (France, Tunisie, Turquie) et des ateliers de deux heures organisés dans les différents sites des partenaires.

The evolution of funerary practices from the Neolithic period to the beginning of the first Iron Age in France and in Western Europe
Le XXIXe congrès préhistorique de France se tiendra à Toulouse du 31 mai au 04 juin 2021 sur le thème : « Hiatus, lacunes et absences : identifier et interpréter les vides archéologiques ». Il est organisé conjointement par la Société préhistorique française et l'UMR 5608 TRACES. Au sein de la thématique F : « La mort évanescente : quelles pratiques funéraires pour les aires et périodes pauvres en sépultures ? » nous organisons la session suivante « Des vivants sans tombes et des morts sans habitats : évolution des pratiques funéraires du Néolithique au début du premier âge du Fer en France et en Europe occidentale » (session F1) pendant laquelle nous proposons de discuter des vides archéologiques dans le contexte funéraire, qu'ils soient chronologiques, géographiques, matériels ou démographiques.

The BBC's reputation for impartiality and independence is one of the cornerstones of its value system, which also underpins its self-declared mission to "inform, educate, and entertain". However, these values have constantly been redefined as several forms of censorship and self-censorship have been applied in the context of conflict with political or economic powers. This means that the role and independence of the BBC as a public service needs to be questioned and the grey areas and silences of the BBC from its creation in 1922 to the beginning of its digital era in 1995 need to be the objects of inquiry.

Body and power: the body in political art in the modern age
The ambition of these two days is to explore issues related to the body carrying a political discourse, by mobilizing works created from the Renaissance to the dawn of the 19th century. By bringing together young and experienced researchers, both French and foreign, this event will make it possible to confront methodologies (formal, iconographic, aesthetic approaches...) by bringing together various case studies discussing these imposing, heroic, seductive, disquieting or repulsive bodies, whose anatomy was more or less unveiled to embody, among other things, the figure of the invincible victor as opposed to the vulnerable victim.

Cultural diversity in the school environment: France-Italy, comparative perspectives
Ces journées ont pour objectif de comparer les deux systèmes d’enseignement sensiblement différents quant à leur traitement de cette question de la diversité à l’école. Cette dernière est une problématique récente en Italie, touchée par des mouvements migratoires importants depuis la fin des années 1990, et n’a pas encore donné lieu à des débats théoriques complexes. Les mesures publiques en Italie se sont exprimées de plus en plus en termes d’éducation interculturelle, mais la diversité reste encore une notion en construction. Au contraire, en France, celle-ci a suscité des débats scientifiques et politiques d’envergure, orientés autour des questions de discriminations et d’inégalités selon les origines migratoires des élèves, qui amènent à la considérer comme une problématique essentielle de la sociologie de l’éducation française. Ces journées auront pour but de favoriser les échanges et d’alimenter la réflexion autour de cette dimension comparative, mais aussi d’entrevoir des pistes de travail futur, des problématiques communes ainsi que des projets collectifs sur le thème (publications, réponses à des appels d’offre, organisation de colloques...).

Les Éditions de l’EHESS et les Éditions de l’INED organisent les 2e rencontres de l’édition dans le domaine des sciences humaines et sociales, les 16 et 17 novembre 2020. Ces deux journées mettront l’accent sur l’évolution des métiers éditoriaux dans le contexte de la mutation numérique de l’édition. L’objectif est de construire une réflexion commune pour prendre la mesure des évolutions survenues depuis le début du XXIe siècle et de leurs conséquences, intellectuelles comme professionnelles.

Building using timber frames in the country and city in the 13th-18th centuries
A pluridisciplinary approach to a construction technique in Europe
Portant sur l’architecture rurale et urbaine en pan debois, ce colloque réunira des chercheurs européens afin de croiser les réflexions sur de nombreuses thématiques : approvisionnement des chantiers et économie de laconstruction, modes d’habitation, aspects structuraux, mise en œuvre des matériaux et décor seront ainsi comparés sur une longue période, s’étalant du XIIIe au XVIIIe siècle. Archéologues, historiens de la construction, ethnologues, chercheurs à l’Inventaire ou architectes, par la diversité de leur approche, éclaireront l’ensemble des caractéristiques et spécificités des pans de bois, mettant en évidence particularismes et savoir faire locaux, apparition de procédés novateurs ou au contraire perpétuation de certaines techniques.

Freedom and Death in the Greek Revolution of 1821
Microhistorical analyses of battles in the Epirotic and Balkan areas
In 2021, during the 200th anniversary of the proclamation of the Greek Revolution of 1821, the Department of History and Archeology will hold another international conference on "Freedom and Death in the Greek Revolution of 1821. Microhistorical analyses of battles in the Epirotic and the Balkan area". The conference will address issues of Greek historiography, such as the Modern Greek Enlightenment in Epirus, Souli, and the networks of Souliotes; operations in Epirus; the battles of Peta, Philhellenes, Plaka, and Kompoti; Lord Byron on Epirus; the strategies of Ali Pasha; the Epirotic networks in Moldovlachia; and the lives and deaths of revolutionaries. Using modern methodological tools and a microhistory approach to conduct systematic research of both new and old archives, the conference will offer original and interesting approaches to an already rich discussion.

What to do with foreign private law in a liberated territory?
Dans l’histoire humaine, lorsqu’un pays occupait un pays voisin, la règle voulait que l’occupant lui imposât son droit public, sans imposer sa religion, sa langue ou son droit privé. L’intérêt bien compris du vainqueur était de respecter les croyances et les traditions des vaincus qui acceptaient d’autant mieux le nouveau souverain. À compter de la Révolution française et plus encore de l’Empire de Napoléon, le principe s’inverse : pour transformer le peuple vaincu, il faut encore lui transposer le droit privé français. Au fil du temps, tous les pays du monde seront désormais confrontés à ce problème : que doit-on faire du droit privé d'impayés étranger, lorsque l’occupation, la colonisation, l’incorporation ont cessé ? Le congrès de Vannes comparera les diverses options envisagées du XVIIIe siècle jusqu’à la décolonisation, en Europe, en Amérique du Nord et du Sud, en Afrique et dans le Commonwealth. Le congrès interrogera la doctrine internationale avant de conclure.

Pour accompagner les agrégatifs dans la préparation de cette nouvelle question du programme d'histoire, les conservateurs de la bibliothèque Mazarine ont conçu plusieurs ateliers-conférences. Le principe est d’aborder l’histoire de l’imprimé dans ses divers aspects (production et marchandisation, régulation, fonctions, réception et usages…), à la faveur de séances thématiques organisées autour de pièces sélectionnées dans les collections. Une attention toute particulière sera consacrée à la manufacture, à la matérialité et aux mutations formelles des objets imprimés.
