  Ce colloque-atelier propose une rencontre entre historiens de l’art, conservateurs-restaurateurs et spécialistes des sciences des matériaux pour analyser collectivement comment l’effet visuel dans les icônes est créé par l’accumulation de couches, visibles ou invisibles à l’œil nu, mais qui participent pleinement de l’apparence finale. Comment croiser les méthodes d’analyses - historiques, stylistiques, iconographiques et matérielles - pour comprendre l’émergence des formes et les processus de création ?

  The Classics in the Pulpit. Ancient Literature and Preaching in the Middle Ages

  The aim of the conference is to shed new light on this both striking and irritating practice. Papers (25 min) can deal with topics such as the reasons and occasions for the use of the classics in preaching, the hermeneutic and literary strategies applied in order to adapt pagan mythology to homiletic needs, the social and educational background of preachers and their audiences, the connections of classicizing sermons with other fields of literature such as vernacular poetry, or the discourse they provoked within the clerical milieu. Applications from all relevant disciplines (e.g. history, literature, theology, philosophy) are welcome.

  L'humanisme juridique

  Géographies de l'humanisme juridique

  Composante essentielle du renouveau intellectuel européen, l’humanisme juridique (it. umanesimo giuridico, angl. legal humanism, all. humanistische Jurisprudenz) se définit par une approche des textes hérités du droit romain qui s’oppose et en même temps complète les traditions médiévales de la glose et du commentaire. Privilégiant les connaissances historiques et linguistiques tirées d’une étude la plus vaste possible des œuvres, monuments et documents de l’Antiquité, les juristes humanistes ont contribué à replacer les écrits du Corpus juris civilis au sein de la civilisation gréco-romaine qui les a vu naître, tout en parachevant l’exégèse déjà mûrie au Moyen Âge grâce au travail des interprètes.
