  Power(s) in Palestine

  Over the past two decades a great deal of research on the question of Palestine has pointed to a fragmentation of the Palestinian political landscape, divisions exacerbated by the Oslo Accords. The ensuing establishment of the Palestinian Authority (PA), in particular, fostered the emergence of new political dynamics and new sources of power and legitimacy, embodied in the conflict between Fatah and Hamas that has dominated Palestinian politics since 2007. The creation of the PA also encouraged a process of capital accumulation and a restructuring of social classes after 1993. Moreover, the dispersion of Palestinians across the world, the superposition of national and international legal realities and the diversity of actors in the conflict have contributed to the multiplication of sources and resources of power. This complex set of factors has prompted questions regarding new sources, mechanisms and flows of power in Palestine, as well as resultant dynamics.

  French architectural works in the Middle East (19th-20th centuries)

  In the fringes of contemporary heritage

  Toute proposition ayant pour objet des réalisations ou des projets de la période contemporaine (allantdu XIX^e au XX^e siècles) d’architectes français au Moyen-Orient, entendu dans le sens large du terme (de l’Égypte à l’Afghanistan, du Yémen à l’Iran), tant à l’échelle architecturale qu’urbaine, sera particulièrement appréciée. Les communications pourront aborder, dans une approche historique, historiographique ou critique, une problématique inscrite dans l’un des axes suivants – ces derniers n’étant cependant pas restrictifs : monographie d’œuvre, de réalisation ou de projet, mobilisant et croisant les sources françaises et locales ; étude des transferts culturels ou techniques dans les différentes sphères moyen-orientales autravers des projets cosmopolites ; analyse des collaborations en matière d’architecture et d’urbanisme entre la France et les États du Moyen-Orient, tant sur le plan technique et scientifique qu’institutionnel et politique ; étude critique de projets récents de réhabilitation, de transformation ou de reconversion desréalisations d’architectes français au Moyen-Orient.
