The future of communications and Public Relations (RP)
(Re)imagining the role, function and objective of the profession
La pandémie Covid-19 a été surnommée « l’heure d’or pour les communicateurs ». La demande de services de communication augmente et avec cela des questions sur le rôle, la fonction, l’éthique et la loyauté de la profession deviennent visibles. Un éventail de problématiques comme celles évoquées ci-dessous s’ouvrent à être mises en débat, discutées et traitées aussi bien de point de vue théorique qu’empirique. Les défis de la désinformation entourant la pandémie Covid-19 ont déclenché parallèlement aux aspects sanitaires de la crise une véritable infodémie [...] Ce dossier recherche des contributions en anglais ou en français, empiriques ou théoriques, qui se penchent sur le rôle, la fonction et le but des professions en communication (déclinées par champs tels les relations publiques, la communication stratégique, la communication persuasive, la gestion de la communication….) et ses défis et paradoxes intrinsèques compte tenu notamment du futur de la profession.

Scientific and material support to research projects FMSH, 2020
The Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme (FMSH) is launching a call for projects dedicated to innovative themes in the humanities and social sciences (SHS): Digital Humanities; Philanthropy and Education; Ecological Transition and Social Justice. This call for projects is a feature of one of the main missions of the FMSH, which is to provide scientific and material support to research projects that are in the early stages of their development and can use the support of the FMSH to develop further their scientific content, methodology, and research networks.

Art Markets : An Integrated Perspective 2020
International Summer School - Antwerp-Brussels July 6-10, 2020
Inspired by the success of the first Art Markets Summer School held in Lyon in June 2019, a second edition of this unique research, training and networking experience will take place in July 2020 in Belgium. A team of international experts from relevant fields such art history, economics, sociology, finance and digital humanities will engage with participants with an academic or professional interest in the global art market. An exciting program combining lectures, workshops and field trips will familiarize the participants with the nature and structure of the art market system. Attention will be given to the theoretical and conceptual frameworks, the various actors in the art market and the available methodological tools to study this fascinating yet complex phenomenon. This immersive experience will inspire and shape new interdisciplinary thinking about the emergence, history and dynamics of art markets around the world.

Users faced with the dematerialisation of public services
La dématérialisation des services publics est un phénomène en accélération. Cette transformation n'est cependant pas sans causer des difficultés du point de vue des usagers et usagères : facture numérique, conception et protection des sites, risques de discriminations etc. La journée d’étude envisagée propose donc une réflexion inter-disciplinaire sur cette question autour de trois axes sur lesquels toutes les disciplines sont invitées à proposer des communications. Les trois axes sont : accessibilité des services publics à l’ère de la dématérialisation; protection des données et libertés numériques des usagers des services publics; dématérialisation des services publics : création de nouveaux marchés ?

Cette journée interdisciplinaire se propose de comprendre en quoi consistent ces innovations ? Dans quelle mesure emportent-elles des conséquences importantes tant du côté des consommateurs que des intervenants sociaux ?

From TV stations to digital platforms
Cette journée d'étude propose d’étudier comment les modes de représentation des minorités ethnoraciales (Safi, 2013 ; Cervulle, 2013) ont évolué en France au sein d’une offre de contenus audiovisuels alimentée de façon croissante par des médias issus du web, souvent étrangers, et échappant donc à toute régulation ou politique volontariste hexagonale en la matière. Elle s'appuie sur un double cadrage interdisciplinaire : un premier d'ordre socio-économique et un second d'ordre socio-technique.

Artistic, Digital, and Political Creation in English-Speaking African Countries
Africa 2020
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on 3rd July 2018 in Lagos that a Special Season would be organized in France, from June to December 2020, to mark a renewed partnership with Africa, a “varied, strong and diverse continent that will play a part in our shared future”. Even if this cultural focus cannot be abstracted from a broader geopolitical agenda marred by controversial presidential declarations, it nevertheless has the potential to offer a somewhat different coverage of the continent. One can only hope that it avoids the temptation to officially “curate into being” “exceptional” artists (Dovey), tapping into the all-too-familiar image of Africa as “the supreme receptacle of the West’s obsession with, and circular discourse about, the facts of ‘absence,’ ‘lack,’ and ‘non-being,’ of identity and difference” (Mbembe).

Africa 2020: Artistic, digital, and political creation in english-speaking African countries
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on 3rd July 2018 in Lagos that a Special Season would be organized in France, from June to December 2020, to mark a renewed partnership with Africa, a “varied, strong and diverse continent that will play a part in our shared future”. The peer-reviewed journal of Aix-Marseille Université research centre on Anglophone Studies (LERMA), E-rea, has decided to seize the opportunity of Africa 2020 to dedicate a special issue to contemporary artistic, digital, and political creation in English-speaking African countries. Heeding Kenyan political analyst Nanjala Nyabola’s advice to eschew the too reductive ‘Africa rising’ and ‘Africa failing’ narratives in favour of ‘Africa being’ stories, this special issue wishes to focus on “stories reflecting the ambivalence, complexity, challenges and opportunities of African societ[ies] in an increasingly connected world”.
