  On the traces of the Republic in the Vaucluse - call for contributions

  Dans le cadre de l’exposition Mémoires républicaines en Vaucluse qui se déroulera au Musée d’histoire Jean Garcin à Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (84800), la Conservation départementale projette de publier un catalogue d’exposition dans lequel figureront les textes et documents de l’exposition majeurs ainsi que des articles scientifiques. Dans ce contexte, un appel à contribution est lancé afin d’embrasser au mieux la période révolutionnaire en Vaucluse et d’offrir un contenu scientifique supplémentaire à l’exposition.

  Workshop on sexual violence in modern southern European history

  Southern European gender models and the implications of these on the study of sexual violence in the western world are relatively under-theorised within broader narratives of the western subject. This workshop seeks to address this lacuna through an exploration of the intersection of southern European culture – understood through the prism of “unity in diversity” – and sexual violence in the modern period. A thorough comparison of sexual violence within the diverse localities of the European south will allow similarities and differences to emerge, and will help to decentre current emphasis on the English-speaking world within the current historiography on sexual violence.

  The statistics of Empires. Counting, classifying, knowing and dominating

  Figures for deciphering Empires and dominating the world: the colonial statistics of former empires in the 19th and 20th centuries

  Les interprétations économétriques des effets de la domination coloniale aux XIX^e et XX^e siècles fondées sur les statistiques coloniales et les recherches qui interrogent les interactions entre les institutions internationales, les empires coloniaux et les populations colonisées, suscitent un intérêt renouvelé pour la production statistique impériale. Celle-ci reste pourtant mal connue. Le premier objectif de cet atelier est d’approfondir la réflexion et les connaissances sur les liens entre les statistiques produites en situation coloniale et à l’échelle impériale et la domination à partir de questions concrètes et d’études précisément situées.
