  Imperial Artefacts: History, Law, and the Looting of Cultural Property

  This interdisciplinary conference aspires to bring together (post-)colonial historians, legal historians, curators, international lawyers, and others engaged with the field to establish research collaborations by critically investigating stories of colonial looting, the framing of colonial history within museums, the origins of the legal framework concerning European laws of war and restitution, as well as a way forward for restitution claims.

  L’académie africaine de recherches et d’études francophones (ACAREF), dans son programme de renforcement de la dimension «  Action » de la recherche en sciences humaines et sociales, lance un multi-appel à contributions pour le compte de l’année académique 2020/2021. Les travaux se dérouleront en équipes de chercheurs spécialistes et experts autour de thématiques précises et prendront la forme de séminaires résidentiels de 5 à 10 jours ou selon les calendriers établis par les équipes elles-mêmes en concertation avec l’ACAREF. L’objectif est d’encourager l'échange et la collaboration scientifique au sein du monde des chercheurs (spécialistes et experts) notamment dans les humanités pour promouvoir la recherche-action-implémentation.

  The aim of this thematic issue is to pay tribute to Camille Lacoste-Dujardin (1921-2016), an eminent figure of French ethnology who dedicated her fifty-eight years scientific career to the study of the complexities of the Kabyle society and, beyond, to those of any human society. Indeed, even though her ethnological researches seem to have been “restricted to a people of mountain dwellers, its language and culture”, actually “they have never been limited neither in space, nor in time”, and “not even strictly confined to some single object of observation”; they have rather always involved “references to larger [sociocultural] wholes”.
