Stéphane Verger) et la méthodologie des recherches (dans les formations « Transferts culturels : mode d’emploi », proposées par Mme Anca Dan et M. François Queyrel).

Comparative approaches to the environment, cities and mountains
Depuis quelques années l’histoire des territoires proprement dits s’est considérablement développée, des travaux sur la frontière de Daniel Nordman à ceux de François Walter sur les identités paysagères, dessinant les contours d’un nouvel objet scientifique, aux multiples ramifications, qui appelle un perpétuel questionnement. Espace approprié, espace organisé et pensé, sinon rêvé, le territoire est également un espace à contrôler, à normer et, dans nos sociétés contemporaines, un espace désormais perçu comme fragile, sensible, à protéger, voire à sanctuariser. Il croise aussi bien la ville que la campagne, le plat pays que la montagne, ainsi que les notions de paysages et d’environnement. Ce colloque international prend le parti de mêler les entrées, conjuguées et questionnées à partir du prisme commun du territoire.

Port Cities: Comparative Perspectives on Urban Stability and Public Safety
18th-21st centuries
The coming of globalization was centrally anchored in the increased mobility of goods, people and ideas. Port cities were thus transformed in crucial hubs in this mobility age. Because of the heterogeneous social and cultural landscape associated with commerce and transport, port cities became increasingly known as insecure places. Hence the perceptions resulting from and the strategies adopted to deal with the insecurity and the search for a new sense of urban stability were especially acute in port cities.

La fondation Calouste Gulbenkian soutient l'organisation d'un colloque international au patriarcat arménien de Jérusalem, les 3 et 4 juillet 2014, sur le thème : « La genèse de Jérusalem : espaces construits et communautés historiques ». Il s'agit de s'interroger sur la construction historique et sociale de la Jérusalem contemporaine en étudiant les relations entretenues par les différentes communautés de la ville avec l'espace qui les entoure, dans leurs multiples dimensions, aussi bien religieuses que séculières. Les organisateurs encouragent une approche pluridisciplinaire. Le colloque est ouvert à toutes les aires culturelles potentiellement concernées, et notamment aux spécialistes en études arméniennes. Il mettra l'accent sur les périodes moderne et contemporaine.

How can we define the place of literature in the public space as it is now configured?

Ramau conferences – 2014
Following the study days dedicated to “architectural and town planning professions faced with the involvement of residents and users” in 2012 and “sustainable town planning and architecture know-how and models” in 2013, the aim of the Ramau 2014 conferences is to concentrate on the relations between sustainability and “management” in the field of urban development and architecture. The incorporation of sustainable development in architectural, urban and landscaping operations seems to have the effect of increasing the concern for management logic in the project process.

Dans le cadre des commémorations du centenaire de la loi française sur le patrimoine, datant du 31 décembre 1913, la commission « histoire » du comité français de cartographie consacre sa journée d’étude annuelle aux rapports de la carte et du patrimoine. La question sera abordée sous trois angles : la cartographie du patrimoine, la carte comme outil de gestion du patrimoine, la carte comme objet de patrimoine. La journée s’achèvera par une présentation du nouveau site des archives nationales à Pierrefitte-sur-Seine et de ses ressources cartographiques.

Taking Tunisia — a tiny yet dense country — as a case study, this international conference addresses the possibility of sharing contemporary public spaces in the Mediterranean. It addresses the role played by architecture and urban forms in the sharing process itself and also invites to think of future forms and ambiences in a context of hyper-plurality in which the notion of neighborhood is put into question and the notion of space marking is more than ever re-explored.

Les journées du Gerpisa constituent un cycle de rencontres mensuelles structurées autour du programme international du réseau Gerpisa (Groupe d'étude et de recherche permanent sur l'industrie et les salariés de l'automobile). Le cycle en cours (2013-2014) s’inscrit dans le sixième programme international de recherche du Gerpisa (2012-2015), « Structuration des nouvelles industries automobiles, restructurations des industries automobiles traditionnelles et nouvelle géopolitique mondiale de l’automobile », dirigé par Bernard Jullien, Directeur du GERPISA et Tommaso Pardi, chargé de recherche à l’ENS Cachan.

The 1rst World War dramatically affected societies and territories, as well as personal lives and all forms of culture, in Europe and elsewhere in the world. The 1914-1918 conflict had in all respects a foundational nature. On the occasion of the 1rst World War commemorations, and in connection with the exhibition, "Summer of '14: The Last Days of the Old World", which will be held at the French National Library from March 25 to August 3, the French Committee of Cartography organizes a conference specifically dedicated to the role of cartography in the war, according to three main issues : the role of maps during the preparation of the war, the use of maps on the theatre of military operations, the importance of the map in a civil society during the war.

Interdisciplinary strategies and collaborations
This seminar is the first of a series of three talks which will take place in each of the cities explored. It offers a space for collaboration, reflection and exchanges where explorers, partners, associate members and other leading figures are invited to lend an outside perspective. It is an invitation both to reflect on the project itself and to promote a public discussion of its critical perspectives. For instance, what is “knowledge” for an artist, a researcher or an educator, and how is it constructed ? For what discourse and representations are artists, researchers in the humanities and educators responsible ? What research stance should be adopted to meet the challenges of interdisciplinarity and social space ? How do our disciplines of research, creation and social intervention revisit the historical motive for exploration and what relationship do they have with it ?

Environmental approaches of interactions between cities and forest supplies during the Middles Ages and the Early modern period. 12th International Conference on urban History, European Association for Urban History – Main Session M16
As places of consumption and production European medieval and early modern cities exerted a enormous pressure on neighbouring woodlands. Some historical studies have already discussed the way cities tried to impone their control on these lands emphasizing the diversity of needs which were fulfilled by forest exploitation (wood, timber, charcoal, grazing…). They often concluded that urban pressure resulted in an inexorable degradation of the forest cover. Indeed local woodlands and forests products could probably never meet the demand. In order to face shortage or, better, to prevent it, urban authorities attempted on one hand to extend their control on more and more distant forests and to attract interregional or « international » trade flows. On the other hand, they tried to regulate the local market so as to ensure access to several important needs regarding urban economy (charcoal, timber).

This special issue of Belgeo is dedicated to the relations between art and space (publication planned for autumn 2014). We suggest three main directions for articles: the first one aims to collect epistemological reflections concerning the development of a geography of art(s), to understand its specificities and contributions. The other two consider artistic spatialities with two complementary approaches, related to the localisation and the spatial dynamics of individuals and artistic phenomena. This call for papers is aimed at researchers of different fields interested in the spatial dimensions of artistic phenomena.

Figuring catastrophe, thinking nuclear
What films on Fukushima have to teach the humanities and social sciences
Le projet du colloque « Figurer la catastrophe, réfléchir le nucléaire : ce que les films sur Fukushima apprennent aux sciences humaines et sociales » s’inspire de l’entreprise originale menée par Tetsuya Miura dans le Tohoku et à Tokyo de rétrospective itinérante de films sur Fukushima et sur le nucléaire. Notre premier objectif est la constitution d’un corpus de films sur Fukushima projetés dans le cadre de ce colloque, et sa conservation dans un fonds de recherche de « Films sur Fukushima » déposé à la bibliothèque Diderot de Lyon. Le deuxième objectif de cette manifestation scientifique est de fédérer la recherche lyonnaise menée dans plusieurs laboratoires de lettres, arts, sciences humaines et sociales sur le nucléaire et travailler à son rayonnement international. Ce colloque est organisé conjointement par le CERCC (centre d'études et de recherches comparées sur la création), l'institut d'Asie orientale (IAO) et la bibliothèque Denis Diderot de Lyon.

L'objet « énergie » constitue le point nodal des contributions des chercheurs et nous attacherons à analyser comment l'innovation s'opère à travers des processus systémiques.

La question du foncier agricole déborde aujourd’hui le seul secteur agricole pour s’inscrire dans des problématiques rurales et urbaines, situant la ressource que constitue le sol agricole à la confluence de politiques agricoles, environnementales et d’aménagement. Ce colloque favorisera un dialogue entre chercheurs en sciences humaines et sociales et praticiens. Les communications présenteront des résultats de la recherche académique, mais aussi des expériences de terrain et des témoignages de professionnels.

CIFRE grand for a doctorate in the analysis of the governance of a river basin
Le plan Rhône signé entre l'État, les régions et les grands acteurs économiques du fleuve a été conçu comme « un grand projet partagé de développement durable ». La Maison du fleuve Rhône et ses partenaires souhaitent accompagner une thèse qui interroge ce Plan Rhône en tant qu’expérience de gestion concertée en en analysant les acteurs, leurs logiques d’action, leurs modalités d’articulation, les (re)définitions du « bien commun » et partant les innovations potentielles à l’œuvre dans ces mutations de gouvernance du fleuve. Cette thèse devrait mobiliser des compétences au carrefour de la géographie, de la science politique et de la sociologie.

The Countryside: spaces of innovation in an urban world
L'UMR CNRS 6590 ESO et la commission de géographie rurale du CNFG, en collaboration avec les commissions de géographie rurale britanniques, allemandes et espagnoles, organisent à Nantes du 02 au 06 juin 2014 un colloque international de géographie rurale sur « Les campagnes : espaces d'innovation dans un monde urbain ». Il s’agit de poursuivre les travaux engagés sur les transformations contemporaines des espaces ruraux en Europe en les croisant plus particulièrement ici avec la notion d’innovation (entendue au sens large du terme). Trois axes de réflexion ont été retenus : pratiques, valeurs et images de la ruralité (réappropriations et « recyclages ») ; quels innovateurs dans quels contextes d’innovation ? ; échelles et territoires de l’innovation dans les campagnes européennes. La pertinence de la notion d’innovation comme grille de lecture des campagnes et son utilisation médiatique pourront également être discutées.
