  I iberoamerican congress of therapeutic recreation in pediatric oncology

  The recommendations of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology refer to the importance of investment in non-pharmacological approaches to handling pain and distress as important  components of treatment. In  this context, there are numerous benefits associated with the approach of Therapeutic Recreation strategies, innovative in Portuguese territory. Conceptually, the Therapeutic Recreation assumes promoting adaptation to changes that the patient faces in a context of hospitalization; it aims to restore the physical well-being, mental and emotional  health of the patient, intending to full recovery. The Holistic perspective often results in a more positive set of experiences by the patient and family in the management of illness and  hospitalization.

  Psychic handicap, new rights?

  En France, la loi du 11 février 2005 pour l'égalité des droits et des chances, la participation et la citoyenneté des personnes handicapées a ajouté le qualificatif « psychique », au côté de « mental » et « cognitif », à la liste des fonctions durablement altérées ouvrant des droits aux personnes atteintes. Elle a ouvert un nouvel espace d’interrogations pour la recherche en sciences sociales et en sciences cognitives. Pour répondre à cette actualité française les Éditions rue d’Ulm ont traduit « Voyage en terres bipolaires. Manie et dépression dans la culture américaine » de l’anthropologue Emily Martin. Le colloque du 10 janvier 2013 confronte à cette occasion les sciences sociales et les sciences cognitives. Comment combiner la description ethnographique, la description clinique et l’expérimentation ? Si le cerveau est social, comment tirer toutes les conséquences du primat de la relation à autrui ? Prendre au sérieux l’expérience des personnes décrites comme malades mentales n’ébranle-t-il pas les représentations occidentales de la rationalité ?
