  La communication de l’environnement

  ESSACHESS – Journal for Communication Studies volume 7, n° 1(13) / 2014

  Les recherches menées sur les enjeux du thème de l’environnement ont atteint, mondialement, une maturité indiscutable. Elles ont soulevé des questions nouvelles ou déplacé des questions antérieurement posées dans d’autres champs, que ce soit sur l’industrie, les politiques d’État (européennes ou nationales), l’espace public, les controverses technologiques, les risques ou la société civile. En laissant de côté le modèle du « déficit », il n’en reste pas moins que la question de la communication - envisagée comme un processus public de confrontation et d’évolution des points de vue - est un ressort essentiel de la thématisation publique de l’environnement.

  Climat et temps : la science comme culture publique

  Communication scientifique et son histoire – III

  This conference is the third in a series devoted to historical and contemporary perspectives on the communication of science and technology. Climate and weather provide a particularly rich and challenging case study to complete the conference series. As with other disciplines studied during the previous conferences, the climate sciences are characterised by complexity: in their professional networks; their conceptual models; and the logistics of their large-scale data and computing needs. Yet few modern scientific disciplines attract the same level of public engagement, in both everyday life and passionate debate on the future of the planet. Moreover, their status at the intersection of policy, scientific controversy and the public sphere is not a recent development: the same issues and fault lines ran through meteorology from the 18th-century onwards. Shifting interests within the history of science and the development of environmental history have greatly expanded the field in recent years. The conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on these historiographical developments via a specific focus on the communication of weather and climate from the 18th to the 21st centuries. The conference will address three themes in particular: Commodification of meteorological knowledge, Media, and Historicizing climate history.

  Les données environnementales en libre accès : politiques, expériences, usages

  La revue NETCOM - Réseaux, communication, territoire consacrera en 2013 un numéro spécial à la thématique des données en libre accès dans le domaine de l'environnement. La revue est intéressée par des recherches portant sur les nouvelles politiques informationnelles des institutions en charge de la gestion de l'environnement, le mouvement et les usages de l'open data ou l'évolution de la dynamique des systèmes d'information sur l'environnement.
