South and east mediterranean youth policies on a tightrope
The conference brings together a series of international researchers who examine youth policies within institutional structures and at the state level in six South and East Mediterranean countries (Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey). It sheds light on the politics of youth policies, sociological and economic obstacles to becoming "adults", and questions the historical turn after the 2011 "Arab Spring". Youth policies are examined at a macro-level in the areas of employment, family, migration and spatial planning in an attempt to understand the emergence of youth as a category, oftentimes identified with a public problem. The question of how various forms of marginalization and domination such as gender, social, urban/rural, ethnic, based on citizenship, etc. intersect and generate inequalities among youth in South and East Mediterranean countries is central to inquiry.

Urban spaces, mobility and "citadinité" in the Mediterranean cities (14th to 18th century)
The panel focuses on mobility and insertion in the cities of the Mediterranean area, during the early modern age. Since the Ancient times, Mediterranean cities are centers for commercial and cultural exchanges, and crossroads of migratory streams. These "sedimented" cities have a long tradition of multi-cultural society and reception of foreigners while remaining, to this day pivotal centers for international circulation and migration, and gateways to Europe.

Fortress Europe, Border Lampedusa
Migrations across the Mediterranean Sea in cultural perspective
This book aims to explore political, social, cultural, economic and artistic expressions of, and issues around, Lampedusa as a metaphor of several (visible and invisible) powers that, at different levels (micro, meso and macro), impinges on the relations between Europe and Africa/Asia, etc. The intent is to propose a comprehensive reflection contemplating several approaches and perspectives regarding the relationship of this island as first/last border of the Fortress Europe. Migration is the core topic, but it could be approached with different materials.

Immigration: Fear and the Media
Magazine Africa e Mediterraneo No. 82
The issue 82 of Africa e Mediterraneo wants to investigate the challenges brought about by media and political communication, considering as focuses of analysis the communication processes within the European society (both of local media and migrants’ initiatives) and those activated in the African Countries, being aware that the circulation of ideas, images and cultural practices is more and more leading to a growing deterritorialization of the media and their messages and to the consequential crossing of national borders.

The Notion of Intelligence in Ancient Greece (nous-noein), from Homer to Platonism
Vol. 16 Methodos (2016)
The aim of this issue of Methodos is to gather contributions of international scholars on the notion of nous-noein in order to reconstruct the history of the terms related to intelligence and its activities. The issue will mainly try to outline the evolution of such terms, from their original perceptual meaning to their conceptual and theoretical scope. Contributions should thus provide materials and analysis to identify the stages and ruptures in the evolution of their use. Additionally, all attempts to trace the technical and cultural transformations which have allowed the passage from the practical understanding of the nous-noein to its more abstract uses are welcome. Papers should by no means be limited to genetic or historical reconstructions; we also welcome any paper bringing some new elements of reflection on the notion of intelligence in the chosen era.
